That's my point. Where are the highlights? How many 7-0 teams are there? Some of our wins may not have been as pretty as we'd like, but they have been wins. And, I believe we came back from a 11 point deficit to beat Penn State 24-14, in their stadium. Oh, but we ruined the storyline all the "sports gurus" had about how the Penn State team would rise above the mess they were in. I feel the alumni of all the MAC schools should ask for more. (I've corrected my post above with the right scores. Next time I post statistics, I'll be more careful)

Yesterday in Athens we had as guests Peter & Jose Verveen from Rhenen, The Netherlands. They savored every moment of Homecoming. Starting with the parade with its sense of humor, Peter & Jose couldn't stop smiling, and Peter shot much video. We then walked them around the campus which they deemed beautiful. After lunching in the Baker Center food court (to spare Lynne from more walking), it was on to Peden Stadium. Peter quickly grasped the essentials of the game. He and Jose loved the entire Peden experience. "We have nothing like this in The Netherlands," he observed. They loved both bands - "The music is amazing," Peter enthused - and especially the spirit and enduring skill shown by the massive Alumni Band (looked like about 350 members). When Ohio took a 34-14 lead, Peter smiled and said, "Can you stop worrying now?" "Too early," I replied. And when inexplicably Ohio abandoned the up-the-gut ground game that restored the early 20-point lead, even Peter was puzzled. Peter & Jose stayed for the entire post-game band show - during which Peter videod non-stop. The day was a virtually perfect exclamation point to the "Americanizing" we had been treating them to - visits to Zoar, Sugar Creek, Walnut Creek, the military aircraft museum near our North Canton home, grilling in the back yard, watching the VP debate (which Peter thoroughly enjoyed), etc. We now have at least two Dutch who will be cheering on the Bobcats.
