But also the best, by virtue of being the only one, for at least the next few hours.

Pulling my tongue from deep inside my cheek, huge congratulations to Solich and all the guys on being the first bowl-eligible team in the country.

Also, thanks to Penn State for keeping Northwestern from ruining the party, and winning against a ranked team -- can only help us out.

Thank you Wildcats.  Somehow being the first bowl eligible team in the country seems like a big honor.

Worst decisive victory ever.

We didn't know that Beefs runs it, so down 14 quick?

Our special teams pretty much stink.  A good team can block our punt pretty much any time that they want...sorta same our field goals, too.

What junior high team gets beaten for a first down on a fake punt?  We rushed about no one.  Next time we're gonna do that we should send out invitations so I can at least dress for the occasion and prepare some food.  Food for fooled.

Goal was to be 1-0.  Bussey, Boykin, Russell, Waters others good work.  Need to get healthier, will get stronger when TT gets 100 percent.

Agree that this wasn't pretty, but still got it done in the 4th quarter. I think we are seeing the undeniable importance of depth. Guys out due to injury, yet still able to wear teams down in the 4th quarter by having the ability to sub guys in and out, yet still be successful. Getting guys back will be huge and those underclassmen have been huge and bodes well for the long-term success of Ohio football.

I cannot say the worst 6-0 team, but just like last year we play down to the competition. The team needs a killer instinct.

Okay, what about "the least-impressive unbeaten"?

What do you guys want.

Ugly victories or pretty defeats?

Considering how banged up the defense is, it was a really good win.  (All wins are good.)  The secondary played about as well as anyone could expect, given that most of these guys haven't had a whole lot of playing time.  I was surprised that Buffalo could push our D line around as well as they did.  Don't know if Buffalo just threw some new formations at them in the first two drives or if their offensive line was just jacked, but it was painful to watch.  Daz's return was the key play for me.  It seemed to fire up the D.

many missed tackles early on.  defense didn't seem to have an answer to the draw play, even after the first half.

HOWEVER, great win especially when you look at all the injuries we have suffered.  Beat Kron! Rest and get ready for the home stretch.

I understand the injuries and we are deep into the roster - experience matters when it comes to schemes, reads - but does it take 4 years to learn how to TACKLE?

I would like to point out that this is one of those teams that play Ohio well for whatever reason.  We are 2-3 over the past 5 years against them before today.  The goal is to keep winning!  Lets go 1-0 next week vs Akron!

Seemed like we were playing nickel almost exclusively those first two drives. I don't know if that was because we were concerned about our secondary being injured or what. We went more 3 LB sets after that, which was a little more effective.

I have said to my friends all year that I think we are a second quadrant team (between 32-62 out of the 124 teams) in terms of how good we are likely to be.  We did have an outside chance to go undefeated because we were only going to play a few other second quadrant level teams.  We have many chances to be upset.  If we avoid the upset we will deserve to be ranked pretty high.  Going unbeaten isn't easy.  There are 13 ways to go 12-1 and only one way to be 13-0.

The UMass game was a bit of a downer but I wasn't going to complain.  This week was pretty good.  As was already stated the last time we were 6-0 most of us weren't even born.  If the program has reached the point where not totally blowing out (allowing them to get down 7 in the final seconds) a MAC team that hung with Georgia for a long time and stayed with UConn with numerous starters and backups out on defense, a few more banged up, out #1 WR barely participating and out QB not at 100% and still loathe to keep it on a option, is a disappointment then the program is farther along that I thought.

This wasn't the best game but it wasn't the worst.  All things considered, the fact that the strength of their team was the front 7, they like to run it but they didn't have their #1 RB, they do turn it over and we don't, our D was banged up.....  This game played out always exactly as I expected that it would it almost every respect.

On a side not when we get Carrie and Shaw back next year added to the experience the Freshmen and Sophomores are getting we going to be set at CB like we never have been before.

Explain why we didn't come out prepared to stop their running, which is about all they have; down 14-0 right away.

It's 8:41 pm and still the only team that's listed as bowl eligible is the one coached by Frank Solich.

I tend to agree with one observation...one of the few times we did NOT seem prepared for what was coming our way defensively.  And, 500 yards and +30 points.  I don't care if they are young or what, they need to get a lot better quickly.  Aand, can someone explain why our experienced d-line was shredded?

Agreed on the great win. Amazing how the whole Eye Patch theory really is playing itself out week after week.

Let me ramble a bit on my theory of missed tackles.
I would say OU is not the only team experiencing this same delima on D.  The more I watch college games on TV the more this appears to be a growing problem.

I often wonder if it could have anything to do with the time required to get the timing down for these fast paced offenses.  You can't get the timing if your D is doing their jobs and you can't have a fast paced O if you have not gotten your timing.  (so no tackling permitted).  Maybe there is just not enough time in a week to focus on those fundamentals of tackling.  I have no evidence to support this statement just my mind wondering how this could happen..

I think as you see more an more teams moving toward no huddle, fast paced offense and you'll see more of the same on Defense.  Question is how do you balance both.

At the end of the day.. I may get frustrated at times while watching OUr games but I'll take this anyday over 3 yards and a cloud of dust.....  "JUST WIN BABY"

I can't believe everything isn't perfect with our football team all the time.  And it really irks me that the other team tries.

Maybe I'm saying the same thing you are, but I know many high school football teams have drastically cut back on the traditional "tackling drills" in an effort to reduce injuries. Many injuries seem to occur during "hamburger," "Oklahoma," or whatever else your teams call them.

I remember a drill in which we would lie on our backs head to head, one with the ball, the coach blew the whistle and we would scramble to our feet and go at each other, one to tackle the other to battle through. I remember breaking a teammates leg in that drill.

I've gone back and forth on this for a long time.

You don't see good tackling at any level, unless the coaches make it a teaching point of emphasis.

The NFL is full of bad tackling; a lot of "tackles" look for all the world like a cut-block.

A lot of our missed tackles look like the defender just flings his body at the guy and hopes he goes down.   I don't remember the last time I saw a Bobcat square up, wrap, and drive.

Well, that's not true.  Carpenter, on occasion, will seriously lay the wood...  Generally speaking, though, I don't see it out of the defensive secondary.

Go Bobcats!
