This thread should be used for creating a new chant alongside our current standing traditions.

-Based on observation, chants should contain an even number of syllables. These even syllable chants should be           divided between two parties. This promotes comradery amongst fans, and results in a better gameday atmosphere.

*Feel free to add criteria that you believe makes a good chant.

Here's an example that I like: During games the student side chants "18" while the other side responds "04".

Discuss

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

I disagree that the syllables must be symmetric, but it should be limited to 1 or 2 on each side.  O - HIO.  Just try it once. You'll like it. After all we are the only OHIO, we are NOT the only OU.

Look, we want to do something that gets the crowd involved, and I get that and in a bubble, I liked the other chant too...but don't lie to yourself and say we're not trying to do something that's VISIBLE to the college football world. There is value in protecting our brand.  There is value in controlling our trademark in official and unofficial capacities.  The brand that has value is OHIO. Period.  Own it. Love it. Chant it.

Christ, I can't keep giving you people free ideas!

Winning Team Losing Team....
The student side points to our team on the sideline chanting Winning Team.
The tower side points to the opposition on their near sideline and chants Losing Team.

I've seen crazier things happen.

Good ideas... I talked on the other thread about maybe just a simple O-HI-O!  (The syllables are a faster pace with a pause, done in counts of four.  O[1] HI[2] O[3] -pause[4]- O-HI-O.  Rinse, lather, repeat.)

Maybe a little OT, but another chant that I heard was when my HS alma mater played Chillicothe HS in the Southeast District Tournament and in the regionals.  The cheerleaders led it.  It went something like this (from CHS):

C!  A!  V!  S!  CAVS! CAVS! CAVS!  (By now ALL of their fans are standing up and clapping to the cadence of the chant.)  LETS GO CAVS!  LETS GO CAVS!  (ad naseum)

Keep in mind, this was in the Convo with about three or four thousand people in one corner yelling it across the floor.  Their entire following got into it; by far one of the most intimidating things I've heard from a crowd, most certainly from a high school crowd.  While I'm not one for ripping of high schools, during this chant, their fans were whipped up into a frenzy by the end of it.  I'm trying to come up with something that would get our fans to do the same.

I had some other ideas, but will post them later.

If we are wanting to incorporate OHIO more in chants, how about on the kickoffs?  I talked to someone in the O Zone about this but figured I'd share with everybody also. How about we get everybody to do the stereotypical kick off chant of "ohhh" but when the ball is kicked everybody chants "H-I-O"  so is sounds like OOOO-H-I-O. Yes it's a little OSUish but we should claim it back or, an alternative could be "OHHHH-HI-O" when the ball gets kicked. Thoughts?

Winning Team Losing Team would be awesome in the football stadium.  If it could be pulled off once, I predict a ton of students staying to the very end just to be part of the chant.

The only problem is that the Cats have a tough time closing out games this year.  To time it right, we should just wait for the other team to score with about a minute left, then start it after the onside kick is recovered or goes out of bounds.

Reminds me a little too much of the Philly fans' chant: E-A-G-L-E-S!

Actually I was thinking about this during the game on Saturday and talked to a few Ozoners for the duration of my visit after the game.  As I sat in my new perch above the student section and near the band, I couldn't help but to notice more of their chants.  One of them was something to that effect during kickoffs but went HIOOOO O-H-I-O-HIOOOOOO O-H-I-O.  At the next game, go by them and listen.  Try and find a way to get the student section in unison with them and it will sound awesome.

The opposing team sucks!

Here's one that incorporates our regional dialect...."OHIYO.

CALL: OH-HIGH!
RESPONSE:  YO!

That's all I got.

I like the Winning Team Loosing Team idea but switch it up. Tower points to home team and students point to away team. That way you are pointing across the field at them. They have to watch you point at them.

The tower side is closer to the visitors. We can point right at the losing team and they'll know who it's directed at. Imagine the first four rows of fans yelling and pointing. I really look forward to this when it happens. Just make sure someone from the OZone comes over to let everyone know when it's starting. Send Ryan in his striped hat with a sign that says "Winning Team/Losing Team". Plus, the students will get it started louder with the first line.

Winning team, Losing team is old school.  Still good a good idea,  but does anyone know the origination of the chant?

THIS MUST START AT REDHAWK.  IT IS THE TREATMENT OF INSULT WHICH THEY WELL DESERVE.

IF THE OHIO AT REDHAWK STADIUM ARE NOT VASTLY LARGER IN NUMBER THAN THE STINK, I AM GOING TO PERSONALLY (NO DELEGATION!) KNOCK ON THE DOOR AND PUNCH IN THE NOSE OF EVERYONE HERE
.

Thank you.

started sometime in the 60's. was lost after that, but was John rhoads taught it to te OZone in the early 2000's which is how it came back. Been pissing off opposing basketball teams ever since.

This one started this year and it's really awesome.  The drumline always plays the drum/ guitar intro from "Immigrant Song' by Led Zeppelin, and that chant happens when Robert Plant's 'scream" comes in at the very beginning.

O-HI-OOOOOOOOOO...O! H! I! O-HI-OOOOOOOOOO...O! H! I! O and so on.
