Maybe I was off in my own world, but I didn't realize that Toledo never scored a offensive touchdown on Cincy!?!  Just five field goals, a return, and a pick six.  Not saying I'm not happy they got the win, but I hope they don't think they are better than us because they beat Cincy.

I think that was more attributed to Cincinnati's defense rather than the ineptitude of Toledo's offense. Toledo benefited because UC made mistakes, most notably QB Munchie.

It's the same way they beat Michigan.

The win is what counts in the end.

I remember the jerk calling the Ohio-Pitt game kept saying Ohio had no offensive points.  In fact he said no team scored an offensive point.  Didn't he know  FGs are offensive points!

The title of this thread is no offensive TDs, though.

Is the offense on the field when you score a FG?

Actually, Field Goals are special team points, and are NOT credited to the offense.

Thinking about that it would be right, though, off the top of my head I would have said offensive. And I thought I knew everything.  Thanks Billy, may we call you William?

Yes, L.C., I know that this is a tangent.  Something rarely seen on BA; however, classifying a FG as a special team's score and not an offensive score is BS.  How in the heck does the ball get in position for the special teams to convert it into points.  You mean a FG scored from the 1 yard line on 4th and goal is some how to be credited solely to a holder and kicker.  The offense had nothing to do with it?  However, they go for it and score and it's magically an offensive score.  It that's the rule, it needs to be changed because it makes no sense whatsoever.

Now, for something important BEAT MIAMI!

It can get there in a variety of ways. It could be as a result of a long drive. It could be that there was a turnover, and the offense did not move the ball at all. Perhaps there was a kick return that ended up there. Perhaps a penalty put it there. Oten it is a combination of more than one of the above, such as a turnover, followed by a penalty, or maybe a long kick return followed by a short drive.

Ok, I'll give you the situation where the other team fumbles the ball deep in its own territory and your offense makes little or no progress toward the goal before the FG.  But, that I think is really the exception.  Most FGs should be credited to the offense.  If that's not the case, a scoring modification needs to be made, perhaps with an exception for the kinds of situations you mention.  I see no justification for the offense not getting credit for a long drive that ends in a successful FG.

Now we're getting back to the thread topic. The point is, it's a team game, and points all count the same regardless of who scores them. There is no more honor in winning 64-61 than in winning 3-0.

There are more savings at Little Caesar's, however.

Haha. Well, around here I'm pretty sure you get a bigger discount at Runza if the local team wins by the latter.
