Throw the ball to Foster in the corner. It's either a TD or incompletion. Tyler saying he did not know they were out of timeouts is a BS excuse. He had to know that after the defense used all of them to get him the ball back with 1:30. That last play is Tyler's fault for dancing around as long as he did and Albin's for not calling a play that would've forced TT to get rid of the ball after a 3 step drop.

That was as heartbreaking a loss as I have ever watched. The season was shaping up to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am proud of the team to build a program that has garnered national attention, but a loss like today's is all too familiar. I actually feel more depressed tonight than I did leaving Detroit after the loss in the MAC Championship last season. I'm sure the team feels even worse.

Not beating up Tyler, just responding to JSF-- I wouldn't admit that even if true. I'm a 5'8" bald guy who's never played a snap of QB in my life and I knew when that ball was snapped that:

1. 3 Step Drop
2. Check 1, Check 2, then 50 yards out of the back of the endzone if nothing is there
3. You can't take a sack
4. You have to throw it into the endzone as you can't risk someone trying to run it in
5. We have no timeout or he would've called it instead of spiking the ball a few plays earlier

Same here, as hard a loss as I've ever felt. Felt we were good, but not 25 or deserving of a BCS shot. Yet still, the cards were all layed out in our favor in a potential once in a programs history opportunity. Realized this was a possibility, but I was really hoping to ride into Kent State and/or Ball State. Thought at minimum we could enjoy the ride a few more weeks. Still lots of more realistic goals to play for, but the Rankings, BSC stuff was just too much fun to follow. But as soon as we got into the party, we get thrown on in the morning. All too quick.

Too many mental mistakes by someone who is supposed to be the cool, calm and collected. All having to deal with a pass rush.

Play 60 minutes and it doesn't come down to 9 seconds.

I am amazed that we did not have a plan already developed for specific offensive plays for time and down during the last 60 seconds of play. When I was in coaching, a long time ago, we had specific plays designed for that specific team and during the game those were changed according to defensive schemes established during the game. It was the responsibility of QB coach to make those changes with QB during the game. It appeared that this was not the case during the Miami game.

In my opinion Time management from the field coaching staff has not been adequate in several games. During the last Miami series whem Miami was using the clock we lost approx. 10 seconds when our coaches did not immediately call time outs on second and third downs.(especially 2nd down) Another mistake was when the coaches were not aware that the clock was at 1:24 after the Miami score and it was 1:23 after the kickoff? This was also a mistake by the officials in particular the Field Judge.

That means we could have had at least 9-10 seconds more on the clock. So instead of 1:23 where our drive began, we could have had our drive begin at 1:33. (This means two additional plays) Again, I have noticed this in several past games that our clock management on the field is not well done. There should always be one coach(Grooms or appointed coach) on the field with that responsibility watching the clock during the contest. I noticed in a past ND game that Brian Kelly had noted a clock mistake that was illustrated by a field coach and he then called it to the attention of the official on sideline. This was in the second quarter. It really did not make a difference, but could have. For us it would have helped.

A post pattern by the WR on the short side of the field as a clear out with Hill running a corner route on a roll out would have been much better. Throw a pass the only Hill can catch or skirt along the sideline to step out of bounds if the run is not there for sure.

The straight drop did not make any sense. They only rushed three on a straight bull rush and McGrath appeared like he had the clock running in his head and seemed to let his blocker go when he figured a pass had been made.

Smith was open over the middle about two yards in the endzone. One of many missed opportunities in this game. On to EMU.
