We're a one loss team.  Miami needs to beat Kent State and Ball State to get to the championship.  Win out and we're likely in Detroit.

Outside of the first three drives, we played a great game on defense.  Miami is a good passing team; they'll get yards.  They could have beat us 42-20 today and the defense held them to 23.

Offense... good lord it needs work.  We show flashes of brilliance at times, then we stink it up on others.  What the hell happened to the offensive line?  Why didn't Tettleton throw it away?  Why doesn't Albin call better plays?  Like the MAC championship last year, the blame goes all around.

Hey, we beat Miami when they won the MAC.

Before Tyler got hurt, and even into last year, we ran a lot of option plays where Tyler had the option to keep the ball.  It seems like we've moved away from that type of offense ever since he got hurt, and outside of a couple of plays today, Tyler never really had the chance to keep the ball.  It has changed our offense completely.

Keep it in perspective?

We just blew our best start in 40+ years because a veteran QB couldn't throw the ball away.

I get what you're saying but blowing an 8-0 start, in the manner in which they blew it, is just awful.

There's just no way to sugarcoat it.

My high school basketball coach had an old saying.....There are two things that don't last: Dogs that chase cars and teams that don't make free-throws.

Offense can only do what they are told. Runs up the middle rarely work and it makes every other play that much harder to complete for a first down. If they would just come out running at least 60%+ of the time on sweeps, off tackle plays then I don't think anyone in the MAC could stop them. But we have Tim Albin as an OC and we know that won't happen (hell, look at today and when they had success. It's like he needed to prove himself by going away from that stuff late and they lost.)

Hell no there isn't.  But after a game like this, the team (we can vent all we want to) will just need to go about business as usual.  By this time, we should know better, but still a learning experience.  Tettleton has come up big in the past, but I guess this was another reminder to swallow your pride at times.

Thanks for posting.  My subject was going to be "Now we can forget about all this rankings nonsense and concentrate on winning the MAC."  Would've pissed off some people.

As you said, we'll need some help but we can still win the MAC.  Gotta avoid the letdown against EMU Thursday.  Hope this gets the guys pissed off enough that they put a real hurt on EMU.

The D came up big to get us back in the game, but that final drive by Fiami was a killer.  Gave up a couple of key passes and then that 22 yd run.  Wish they had put more pressure on Dysert earlier.

Don't understand some of the play calling, either.  Why so much emphasis on passing against the worst rushing D in the MAC?  They made a few stops, but we were racking up nice yardage, then just shifted to the pass, even on short yardage.

At least the team won't have all that media attention to put up with and can focus on football.

All season, we've been talking about the "eyepatch."  Teams want to see how tough we are.  Toughness doesn't always come come a victory, people.  It is about having the fortitude to get smacked in the mouth and come back up swinging.  I didn't think we would be undefeated this year; not many did.  If our players come back and win out, regardless of what happens to Fiami this season, they have proved to be tough to me.  Our next four games are no gimmes; EMU scored 47 points on Toledo, who dominated Cinci's offense.

But they only got 3 today at BGSUcks.  Every team in the league gets up for some teams more than others.  Toledo is one of EMU's, especially after the 38-point loss last year.  Yes, they put up 48 vs. 1-6 Army, but they've also scored less than 20 points five times this season.  I'm more concerned about Ohio having a letdown than EMU putting points on the board.

Very true.  And, as much as we like, we can't beat Miami every single year. We had beaten for 5 or 6 straight years.  Miami was due.  I blame Sports Illustrated.....

True, but the chance is there.  I think we'll be fine the next three games, but Kent is where we'll test our mettle.

I hate to say it, but it was good for the rivalry.  Horrible for us.

Still wearing these:

Had to go retreive them after chucking them into the back yard.

But, still wearing them.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

My perspective is we have four tough games left.  None of these are gimmes.  I guess it's just life in the mAC.  I am sure the coach and players will take it one game at a time but it is true: we have a lot of areas to improve in!

Here Here .  All of you who have me on facebook already know my thoughts on the game (hint: I don't blame the players).  Anyways, after watching O$U losing to Michigan for the first time in almost a decade last year (last year's loss was my sister's last home game...so i had to watch...), I began to fear our own fall from grace.  I now know what it's like to lose to a rival.  I now know the true meaning of hatred for said rival.  While I never would have wish for this loss, yes this has restoked the rivalry as I know now what hatred for a rival is.  It's not just a feeling that you get just because they're the rival, it's the feeling you get because your rival just upset your perfect season.  You just watched the team that is your rival upset the first perfect season your team had since 1968.  I am filled with nothing but hatred for the Redhawks, and I will do all that I can to be at the Convo, and Mullet, and Peden from this year into next to tell them how much I hate them.  (I refuse to use any smiley with red, so this is the best I can do)

Let's face it, this team hasn't played well in several weeks.  We barely get out of the Buffalo and UMASS games with a win and nearly blow it against a horrendous Akron team.  We've been calling it "eyepatch," but the fact is the team has been mediocre for several weeks.  Miami had just enough to better another mediocre performance.  I have serious doubts about our ability to beat BGSU, much less Kent, if this continues.
