Poor kid.  Happened just in front of me and when he came off the field a play later he still couldn't catch a breath.

The similar hit I took some 40 years ago probably wouldn't have looked nearly as dramatic on film, but, yeah, I feel sorry for him. He should be fine, but I bet it did take awhile to catch his breath, and I bet he remembers that hit for long time.

Tis always better to give than to receive.  This big 238 pounder will also get it during film study since he has Futrell by some 58 pounds.  Coach Solich recruits toughness.  Bobcat style football, I thought there might be another shoulder injury there.  Young WRs, take note, if you want to see the field, block, there are more oportunities to block than catch.  Never take the play off.

I thought EMU's front seven played hard. We just out-executed them all night and wore them down. This play goes to show you how physical the game is and it's impact. I saw trainers working on Poole twice during the game -- once was something to do with his neck. And, in the fourth quarter, it looked like he was feeling the effects of a shoulder stinger. It was hard for him to move his left arm. They looked at that, too. Dude still played. I respect his toughness.

I thought Futrell might have injured his shoulder, never thought about Poole.

I was worried about the same thing. Futrell does have the advantage that the shoulders have protection, while in Poole's case there is no padding over the sternum, where he took the shot. On the other hand, as we've seen this year, shoulder injuries are a definite risk, while most shots to the sternum will just knock the wind out of you. I imagine both have some soreness today, but hopefully neither has any serious ramifications. Futrell is probably OK because only 1-2 plays later he was returning a punt.

It sucked so bad that we had to punt after that.

Thought the same thing...The new helmets make a big difference.

Honestly I've enjoyed  all the combos this season...Even the white pants with black jerseys (this one had to grow on me).

Matt Morton has nicknames for 3 of the combos that I got a kick out of...

All Green - Yoda
All White - Storm Trooper
All Black - Vader

Can't wait for the return of the Vader Wed night!
