I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere. With my eyesight at is is, I haven't kept up on all the threads.

An interesting note from this year's MAC schedule is that Ohio has the only home game vs a "P" team. The league has 23 road games vs "P"s, which won't make it any easier for for the MAC to make a decent showing. Looking over the lest below, there are some possibilities, in addition to Ohio vs. WVU and maybe Rutgers. Buffalo at Minn and MOFO at Rutgers are two. I wouldn't count out BG at Cincy and NIU at Maryland either. And I wouldn't be surprised if either EMU and Toledo catches Kentucky. (Toledo also is at Wash St, but the Cougars aren't a "P" team anymore.)

So, here's this year's MAC vs "P" schedule:

Kent (3): at TxTech; at FSU, at Oklahoma
Ohio (3): at Rutgers; vs WVU; at O$U
Ball State (2): at Purdue; at Auburn
BG (2): at Cincy; at Louisville
CMU (2): at Pitt; at Michigan
UMass (2): at Iowa; at Missouri
MOFO (2): at Wisconsin; at Rutgers
NIU (2): at Maryland; at Miss St
WMU (2): at Michigan St; at Illinois
Akron (1): at Nebraska
Buffalo (1): at Minnesota
EMU (1): at Kentucky
Toledo (1): at Kentucky

We will get by.
We will get by.
We will get by.
We will survive.

There are some slaughterings in there but definitely some winnable games, especially against the bottom half of the Big Ten.

Given NIU's history of road upsets over "P" programs, I could see them getting a win in Starkville against Mississippi State.

Bulldogs may be on high alert given their loss to Toledo last year.

I remind my son (heading to Miss St in 2 weeks) of the blowout loss to Toledo every chance I get, and how that team wasn't even in the MAC championship. I'll root for my kid's school in general, but not against the MAC. Would love to see NIU win that one (even though they are dead to me).

MAC upsets are a treasured college football tradition. Will they go extinct in the new era?

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6520982/2025/07/29/colle...

Realize not accessible to everyone. Focus on NIU, and Fiami, but Cats are mentioned:

"And make no mistake, it’s going to happen. Precise payroll numbers are difficult to pin down, but there are plenty of early-season opportunities for a MAC team to score a Big Ten upset. Miami opens the season with games at Wisconsin and Rutgers, Ball State opens at Purdue, and Northern Illinois plays at Maryland in Week 2. If you want to dream big, Central Michigan plays Michigan in Week 3, and Ohio plays at Rutgers and Ohio State in the first three weeks of the season."

Why not also mention WVU?

Because they are not in the Big Ten I'm guessing?

Yea, ok you're right based on the paragraph. Overall the article is about P4 upsets by MAC schools.

I believe that No MAC school would be favored right now but WVU at Ohio probably, I'm guessing, would only be about +2 right now.

I'll take BG at UC but that's it; lots of woodshed results this fall but nice paydays which is the only thing that matters.

Also no longer consider the Puppy Dawgs a MAC team. They are treasonous Mountain Goats

There's Only One OU and it ain't in Norman
