I was able to attend today's game. My direct observations this year are limited to this single game. However, I have heard a number of broadcasts and have followed opinions on Bobcat Attack. Normally, I do not often participate actively in Bobcat Attack. As a result of the many diverse negative and positive comments this season, I have decided to put forth my two cents in random order.

1] I saw Doug Taylor at the St. Bonaventure game a few years ago. He has grown in leaps and bounds.

2] The team is grossly under-manned due to injury. As the game continued with only two and a half players on the bench {Dartis went down early in the second period}, Ohio's energy diminished. The defense was less effective and points became harder to score. Buffalo was able to sub fresh legs with talent.

3] Yes, Buffalo is a very good team. Perkins is very skilled and he could probably play on the defensive line of their football team.

4] Prediction: Dartis will have a great senior year. Gollon will make important contributions in the next two years. Kirk is a keeper. The team will be very competitive next year.

5] Met Saul. I feel he is a very capable coach. Saul is under tremendous day-to-day pressure to win. I saw the pressure on his face and heard it in his voice. Who would work for any salary under such unrelenting stress? As for recruiting, I would want my son to play for Saul. In conclusion, I believe he earns his salary and that his contract should be extended.

He is a nice guy, but his extension should be based on his coaching merits. He really has to recruit better. He also needs to win. If he wants to stay than I hope that he proves himself. Kirk and Carter may save his job. There are many capable coaches. We need to have some success. Go Cats

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Are we sure he hasn't already been extended?

A simple records request by the Post, A News or Arkley would clear that up.

From one geezer to another, I like your analysis. It's very similar to my own. Every game I tell my wife and everyone who is around me just how much Taylor has improved and how valuable he is to the team. Likewise recently I've been saying the same thing about Jimmy G. I see lots of potential for this team next year, when hopefully all the working parts will be healthy. I think that Saul is a good coach. He's been dealt a very difficult hand the last two years with all the injuries, which are even more devastating in basketball than football because you have many fewer players, so two or three key injuries can really wipe a team out.

The point I was trying to make OCF was that one would think this late in the season and in year four of a five year contract, a sports reporter would have already inquired about this and that it is legitimate news.

Understand your point, and agree with it. I was just trying to educate the BA masses about FOIA requests. Some folks think that only reporters can submit FOIA requests.

The reason I've never done an FOIA request, aside from not knowing how, is I didn't want to take time and money away from Ohio Athletics. But Frank's last extension was without public notice. There's no way they can let Saul go into the last year of his contract. Therefore, I believe he has been extended or will soon be extended.

This type of FOIA request would take no time or money to release. And they are simple and easy to request. Less than 2 min on a topic like this.

Coming in here and beating Buffalo would’ve been big,” forward Doug Taylor said. “But I think this is a little bit more of a blessing for us. Just to humble ourselves going into the (MAC) Tournament. Us coming off a two-game win streak makes us a little complacent with opposition.”

Complacency based off consecutive wins? It’s been that kind of season for the Bobcats.

Are you kidding me after this season? Why would anyone on this Bobcat team be complacent?

Wouldn't they have to run it past Legal and so forth? I mean I would love to see all the contracts for basketball/football games but just didn't want to hassle folks.

Saul hit the lottery. This is like Byron Scott getting the lakers job after his stint with the Cavs.

Good god....this is embarrassing, but the DT quote sums up the direction of the program right now.

You guys are brutal. No wonder Groce told the players to stay away from the boards.

Come on Bornacat,
You have to admit that those are low expectations. This is nothing against DT, he has been playing good and he probably works very hard. I think he should feel a little bit more confident. It all starts with belief. Maybe DT is so incredibly humble and meant something totally different, but we should not be throwing parades for winning two conference games in a row in the regular season.

I am guessing DT's quote was not exactly what he intended to say? I doubt any player on this team is complacent. They are fighting hard to get wins, but with the injuries it limits them. Maybe the Bulls and other top teams in the MAC will be over confident when they face the Bobcats next week in the MAC tournament?

because in all of this that is what is happening. People are overjoyed with 2 wins. Really? I have not see or met them. Parades? The only real celebration I have seen here was in 2010 and 2012. Hyperbole never impresses. Please.

because in all of this that is what is happening. People are overjoyed with 2 wins. Really? I have not see or met them. Parades? The only real celebration I have seen here was in 2010 and 2012. Hyperbole never impresses. Please.

I agree, let's not pounce on DT's comment. He will be playing his heart out in March to win us a MAC title.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I think Taylor was just trying to say that remembering this embarrassing loss will motivate them in upcoming games. He was trying to look for the silver lining. I don't fault him for that. Go OHIO!

I agree with you re: the extension. It would have to be pretty tough to recruit this spring and into next fall with less than a year of contract remaining.

Saul hit the lottery. This is like Byron Scott getting the lakers job after his stint with the Cavs.

The two situations don't remotely compare. Saul's situation is no different than the majority of college coaches that jump up to the next job. John Groce and Jim Christian, because we're familiar with them, aren't all that different. They jumped when given the chance.
