I didn't watch any of these games but a common post I'm seeing is that AJ Brown disappeared at times. This was true last year in his freshman year. IMO I think we were too quick to label him as a top scorer on this team. The talent is obviously there, however, he only broke 20 points one time last year, MAC tourney against Ball St. Finished the year with 10ppg.

There were a couple glaring games last year where he was essentially shut down and a non factor. He had back to back against Kent and Toledo where he went for 0 and 2 pts. Kent/Toledo/Akron were all able to keep him contained pretty much every matchup.

He is only in his second year but clearly needs to take some big steps forward here before MAC play. Health may be a factor but it all counts towards the bottom line.

Great post and spot on. I don’t believe AJB has been 100% since getting to Athens. Hopefully, he can get there. So much room to grow with his game and becoming more hopeful we’ll see him in Athens for another year. He just seems to love it here.

Starting to think Sheldon is up to the task of taking over for Jaylin next year. Love how his outside shot is looking after a rocky start his freshman year.

I am not quite yet there in terms of ready to say Sheldon is the number one point guard next year. I think you still have to go out and grab a portal ready point guard….like Hunter. And don’t forget we got Reef for another year…at least I think so.

But here is what I’ll say about Sheldon. He no longer scares me when he gets in. Dude has confidence now and a swagger to him. I absolutely love Miles Brown game, but his injury has allowed Sheldon to get these valuable minutes. We should feel good about him moving forward this season and coming seasons.

My continued faith in AJ Clayton as a serviceable big man is only strengthening. In a roundabout way, his development in the paint has helped his outside shooting as he is getting better looks. Absent foul trouble, there is no reason he should ever be under 30 minutes played.

+1000

I am an amazed how well Clayton is holding his own against the other team’s bigs. He has sneaky hops and has altered and blocked a number of shots. Love the fact he’s not forcing the 3 ball. I’ll say this…AJC has the sweetest stroke on the team. Rotation and form are spot on. Honestly…through this part of the season…AJC is my MVP..followed closely by Reef. As others have mentioned, if AJC goes down with foul trouble or injury…we are going to be in a horrible, horrible spot.

When he returns, maybe Sheldon's minutes return to the four minutes he received against Troy, but even Sheldon so far looks far improved from last year. Going at that 300 pounder from MTSU for layup was my personal favorite highlight of the weekend.

Watching on Flo…I think it was the favorite play of the team as well from the weekend. The players jumped off the bench picking up their jaws off the court. It was impressive.

This analysis and your thoughts on Clayton are spot on. What I loved about Sheldon at Coffman was that he had that swagger to take a deep dagger 3 or go up against bigs in the lane. He looked scared last year which is normal for a freshman. Clayton, remember, came to OU as a "junior" out of high school and skipped his senior year. He is finally becoming the player that BVP said he would. BVP was quoted as saying Clayton would be a star. I actually love the energy Hadaway gives us also. I am not worried when anyone off the bench comes into the game now--something I didn't feel the last few years when a handful of guys would come off the bench. This team is developing a toughness and a cohesiveness that will help going into places like Kent, Kron and Northern (how are they so good?).

Absolutely love to see him smiling all the time. He really seems to have bought into this program based on what media coverage we see. I enjoyed the interview he did on the lazy river this weekend, he seems like a guy you want at OU.
