If you put a map of the USA on the wall and threw 1,000 darts at it, would/could you hit Prince, Utah??  How in the world do you pick Eastern Utah JC?

If you bothered to read the article it seems pretty simple why he picked Eastern Utah. They are an up and coming JUCO team who finished third in the NJCAA Division I tournament last year. Their coach was recruiting Kinney from the moment he was released from Ohio. They also have a pretty solid history of sending players to Division I schools. Obviously it's not in the best location but I think just about anyone can put up with being in an unideal location for 9 or 10 months if it gets you closer to your goal.

Many jucos are in remote, small towns in the midwest and west.  That's part of the appeal...fewer distractions so kids can focus on getting their academics and athletics in order.

Jeff, do you really think JUCO's are in small towns for athletes?  They are small schools period, in small towns, large towns, cities, big cities and major cities across the country.  Some just appeal to athletes more than others..  Columbus State is a JUCO, Sinclair Community College, Cincinnati Bible, Owens Community College, Clark State, are off the top of my little head.

As for Kinney, only he and a few others can say why he chose Utah, which happens to be one of the most beautiful States in the Union.

No JCW, but many of the better juco basketball programs are in small towns in the west.  I realize that there are community colleges and jucos all over the place.

I guess we have to take shots at the small towns whenever we can. Price, UT is certainly no big and bad Athens, OH metro area.

Price is actually a nice town in a beautiful area, not far from anything you need.

If you're a geologist like myself, it is an interesting area-I enjoyed the coal mine I visited.  Not so sure that it compares in any way to Athens, but as said before, Kinney should be able to concentrate on his studies (and basketball.)  John, have you been there?   76 miles to Provo-the center of some universe, but Price does have a Walmart so it can't be too bad-right?

I have been all over Colorado and Utah, Utah has some of the most beautiful and amazing landscape in this country.  I do love the "Center of the Universe", the dinosaur tracks out there, and the coal mines you can visit, great stuff!
