I think this is usually the best of the "regular" magazines below Blue Ribbon.

However, there are some peculiarities about it:

*  Once more, they are rating the MAC as a "high major" conference and leagues such as the Colonial and West Coast as "mid major."  I'm glad they do it because the MAC gets more coverage, but it's plain funny.
*  They still have Elton writing the MAC preview.  Just plain funny.
*  They have Steve Coleman still on our roster and his photo on the main page of the article.  Sporting News usually avoids mistakes like that.

Well, they have us picked to finish first in the East.  Wonder if that would still be true if Elton knew we would be without Coleman and Alex?

I'm guessing maybe their logic for putting the MAC as a high major is because it is made up entirely of FCS schools as far as football goes. I'm guessing it probably includes the WAC in this labeling as high major.

It is unfortuante they didn't do a better job with the research, but it is hard to say how long ago the article actually was written. Obviously, there wasn't enough time to know about Kellogg, but Coleman has been a long time. Still, sometimes the articles for these types of publications are due several months before the magazine actually comes out.

The Sporting News preview is normally one of the last one's published, and the copy is usually pretty fresh in terms of up to date accuracy.  The Coleman mistake really surprises me.

But, on the bright side, they had some really good stuff to say about Ohio and an entire page article.

Didn't we have a fairly recent alum (and bobcattacker) working there?

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....
