ESPN has put out their mid-major preview: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/preview2010/columns/story?id=5788744

Considering the love we have been getting from other publications and even some ESPN writers I was kind of surprised to see very little mention of the Cats.  Instead they picked Kent State and of course talked about Akron and their 7-footer Zeke.  However I guess its good to not always be a consensus pick, give the guys something to be angry at and want to prove wrong.

Of course the next article I then read after posting this is an ESPN article naming OHIO as one of the promising programs to watch for: http://espn.go.com/blog/CollegeBasketballNation/post/_/id/17838/dont-sleep-on-these-10-rising-programs

Our interior will be tested early by Oakland.  If we win that game, we will be all over EVERYONE'S Radar!

Summit League: Oakland

Although many in the college basketball universe have not heard of 6-11 Oakland senior center Keith Benson (17.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg), let's just say that Pitt coach Jamie Dixon has heard of him. Benson went for 28 points and nine rebounds in the Golden Grizzlies' first-round NCAA loss to the Panthers. Benson returns for Greg Kampe, one of the most underrated coaches in the game. The combination of quality size, great coaching and three returning starters leads me to believe Oakland will once again climb to the top of the Summit.

If Oakland stubs its toe, look to Oral Roberts as the next-best legitimate contender in the Summit League. Dominique Morrison can score and board, and Michael Craion gives Scott Sutton two front-line players who can produce. The question mark for ORU is whether it can avoid injury to its core players.

Wait, they didn't name us an "It" team? For shame...

Speaking of Oakland, they play WVU tomorrow night. It's their first game and while it probably won't be available for viewing online, it might be worth checking out the box score on Saturday morning to see what kind of dent they can put in a Big East team.

Actually, it is available through ESPN3.com -- thanks for the heads up on the game.  I'll probably not be able to catch it live, but may replay it over the weekend to take a look.  Oakland should be a tough game for our guys early.
