You could easily say that we did a whole lot wrong other than free throws tonight and that wasn't the only reason for the loss.

But if you were there, you can also say that had we hit our free throws in the first half (while they sunk nearly all of theirs) the hole we dug ourselves wouldn't have been nearly as deep as it was.  And many of those misses were the front end of one-in-one's which don't show up on the stat sheet.

One of the more frustrating losses I've witnessed in a while.

I may be misremembering, but doesn't it seem like we struggle with free throws early on every season under Groce, only to pick things up later in the year?  Perhaps this is an issue that could be addressed via pre-season preparation.

Oakland made 17 more free throws than Ohio, but it wasn't just free throws. Shooting 33.8 percent from the floor is awful too.

I think the good thing is that sometimes the shots just don't go in. Oakland's defense definitely played a factor in that, but not entirely (and of course, not at all at the free throw line). The Bobcats were awesome on the offensive boards and great at forcing turnovers, which are things that are mostly in their control, so the effort and effectiveness were there in those things.

A quick point: we missed the front end of the bonus quite a bit too...
