1.  5-12 from the foul line.  Give me a break!
2.  Bigs need to grow a pair!
3. D.J. Cooper not very good in first half!
4.  Washington chucking up 18 ft shots, not very good!
5.  Oakland made shots and foul shots.
6.  Ref's need to let them play a bit!
7.  Need to hit shots in second half!

I hate watching a BBall game where every possession has a foul.  This game won't be done by midnight at this pace.

This team is desperately missing Steve Coleman tonight.  We don't have anyone capable of creating his own shot off the dribble.  Depending on freshmen for 3/5ths of your backcourt rotation is a recipe for disaster, because inevitably they will all lay an egg like tonight.  Down 16 with 12 left, we need them to find their footing in a hurry.

This game is showing how much we will miss Bassett and Coleman, especially early in the season. Hopefully the freshman can mature before conference play...

It's bad when when nobody (other that Cooper) can play defense without getting a foul called against them.

Rooting for Akron is like cheering on the Taliban.

Trust me, you don't want to watch this one.  It's sad when the best part of the game is Scott saying what he's wearing tonight.  Here's the link though.

The good thing is that our fans are steady.  No going from the heights of ecstacy to the depths of despair here!

Yes, because playing an equal team on your home floor, and getting your arse handed to you is nothing to be concerned about.  Even in game #2!

Pretty tightly called game. Inconsistent as well. If we're not allowed to play up tight defensively and bang underneath, we're going to struggle. Sucks to watch a game where everything is a cheap foul.

With that said, Oakland is a good team. We're going to have our hands full with long perimeters and athletic forwards this year.

Welcome to the process.

First game I've seen this year and we struggled.  I know it's early but we will struggle all year if we don't get a lot better in EVERY facet of the game...

In a word BRUTAL. 12 pt loss that felt a lot more like 30. Foul shooting abmoninable, really magnified tonite when we were struggling to create offense. DW,Keely,Ivo, WOW, that wasn't pretty. Groce, why have Kellogg on the floor in the FIRST half AFTER he had picked up his 3rd foul( got his 4 about 10 secs. later)? If Kellogg is your ONLY option to spell DJ at the point, don't you have to somewhat protect him when he's in foul trouble? The officiating crew's performance rivaled ours,(not using them in any way as an excuse) they were just BRUTAL as well. The whole thing rivaled watching a train wreck.

We're good, but I don't think we are equal with Oakland. They had superior talent at almost all positions except PG. With a good shooting night, we could've won, but Oakland was dominant on defense and the boards.

The refs really screwed the flow of the game up though.

Without a doubt the chemistry was NOT there tonight.  Felt a lot like last year when AB entered the scene.  Tonight Devo came back and I didn't feel anybody really knew what was going on.  At times I thought he confused himself with a jump shooter instead of the slasher/glass clearner.  Freeman's role tonight was not clear.  Other than the late flurry of 3's late, he was lost the entire game.  Same can be said for Ricardo, TJ and Reggie.  Naturally the rotation seemed out of whack because nobody was playing real well together.  Lots of nice pieces, but the pieces weren't on the same sheet of music.

I would agree also that we miss AB/Coleman's ability to create shots  I was hoping TJ or Ricardo would fill this void and I think they still may.  But they appeared light years away from being "that guy" tonight.  TJ had no impact at all and Ricardo was trying, but was not on the same page of music as anyone else tonight.

Similar to last year, I think this is going to be a process that evolves with time.  I have full confidence we'll figure this out, but it may take a dozen games or so until everyone understand their roles.

Oakland had a lot to do with the troubles we had last night.

I think I may have predicted this could happen this year at some time :)  A learning opportunity. Continuous progress and improvement over the year will help everyone forget.

Not having seen either, perhaps, 2nc, yesterday's Oakland was comparable to last year's Pitt.  The diff would be that the wheels came off against Pitt whereas we weren't bad in all respects yesterday.  Let's hope that the ultimate aftermath is at the same level.

I was at the Pitt game and it was atrocious. Stevie Fresh was writing lyrics to his next rap song during time-outs. I was expecting a game like this against Kansas, not Oakland. This would have been easier too stomach if the game had been played on the road.
