I'm just curious if anyone knows what Armon is up to. I was wondering if he is playing overseas anywhere.

I'm pretty sure he's not playing anywhere at this point. He's due in court in Athens Nov. 16 and 18.

He is listed among the available prospects, but through six of eight rounds, he has not been selected.

Kenny Hayes of Miami went in the second round, and Eastern Michigan's Carlos Medlock just went in the sixth round to the Utah Flash. Also of note, Findlay's Josh Bostic was picked in the third round. Then there was long-time NBA player Antonio Daniels going in the second round.

AB was the third-to-last pick in the draft, but he was selected. Hopefully he'll get some playing time and does well.

I dont know much about the D League...Is it a true minor league system with each team being affiliated with an NBA club? How is the attendance & interest?

Off topic - With the country's growing obsession of football, I can't understand why the NFL hasn't tried out a minor league that plays on like Tuesday & Wednesday nights or something. I think it would be well attended and well followed, for the minors anyway, and would be a great tool for rehabbing players and developing "projects" such as Tim Tebow.

The NBDL is a true minor league I believe, with connections to NBA teams.

As far as a I know, it's not a minor league setup like baseball, where each guy on the minor league team is actually property of the parent club. Teams send down young guys at the end of the bench for a handful of games to get some playing time. Most D League teams are affialiated with two NBA teams. Some are affiliated with three. A couple are affiliated with only one. Maine is affiliated with Boston and Charlotte, but I assume the guys just drafted are property of the D League team and mot any NBA team.

The D-League is sort of like the baseball minor leagues. As noted above, NBA teams can assign players to a NBDL team (The Austin Toros are the Spurs' affiliate), but most players belong to their D-League team and can be purchased by any NBA team.

The D-League gets a chance to showcase at the All-Star Weekend. Their dunk contest is not to be missed.

He still has to make the team. Teams can carry 17 players until the regular season begins Nov. 18. At that point, they are only allowed 10.

Maine previously invited six players to training camp and then drafted nine players, so AB still has a lot of work to do, especially because it seems there are a lot of point guards (although I'm guessing SG in the D-League is a possibility for him).

I would assume the six invitees have good chances of making the team: They have pretty good profiles:

MARIO WEST: 6-5, 210 lb. guard from Georgia Tech. Became the first Red Claws player in history to earn call-up to NBA when he signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks on January 12, 2010. After being signed to a second 10-day contract, he was signed by the Hawks for the remainder of the season, dressing for 39 games. Prior to the call-up, he appeared in 11 games with the Red Claws, averaging 13.7 ppg.

PAUL HARRIS: 6-5, 220 lb. forward from Syracuse University. The Red Claws 2009 first round draft pick returns to action after missing all of 2009-10 following an ankle injury suffered in the Utah Jazz’s 2009 training camp.

STEPHANE LASME: 6-8, 220 lb. forward from the University of Massachusetts. Joins the Red Claws after attending the Boston Celtics 2010 training camp. 2007 2nd round draft selection of the Golden State Warriors. Spent the 2009-10 season with Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (Israel) where he averaged 8.8 ppg in 24 games.

KEITH “TINY” GALLON: 6-8, 320 lb. forward from the University of Oklahoma. Drafted by Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft. Attended training camp with Milwaukee and the Boston Celtics.

JAMAR SMITH: 6-3, 185 lb. guard out of University of Southern Indiana. 2010 Division II Player of the Year. Participated in the 2010 NBA summer league in Las Vegas with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Attended Boston Celtics training camp.

LAMONTE ULMER: 6-6 forward out of the University of Rhode Island. A first-year pro, he earned an invite to the Red Claws 2010 training camp after attending the team’s open tryouts at UMass-Boston in September.

In my opinion AB is better than almost all of those guys drafted. I'm guessing he fell so far in the draft because of his legal issues, and if he is able to get those resolved he will make this team easily.

I would take JaJuan Smith over Bassett, but hopefully Armon will catch on.

Well it will not be the Ohio Penal League as he was spared jail time, but was given the maximum sentence with suspensions of the time, and the fine -$250.

Couple hundred thousand I believe. I think 250,000 was what Tilly made straight out, but that could be completely off...

I'd take a couple hundred thousand out of college! Even if it means moving over there..

Going pro in Europe is much different than playing college hoops. You can make it over there initially just on the talent you showed in college but to stay over there and make some real good money you have to work your tail off every single day. I won't hold my breath for AB to get to that point.

I'd say a big reason why he "dropped" was due to his limited NCAA resume. I still say that if he had stayed for another year he would have helped his draft status immensely. As such, there is little to pull from. A year at IU and a year at OHIO, compound that with the legal issues and there really isn't much to go off of. You have to look at the consideration that some may see it as simply a player having a career year as opposed to glimpses of things to come. Hopefully he will do well, while a little bitter that he left, I wish him the best down the road.

OU Barker......You're right on about AB.
Had he cleaned up is act personnally prior to the draft he could have pulled his name out and returned. Once he got into trouble and was suspended for at least part of this season he probably felt he had no option but to stay in the draft. Had he returned he could have showed everyone that those 5-6 games at the end of last season was not a fluke.
