Heard these tidbits on the Akron Post Game show heading home from the game...
  • First win in Akron since the MAC Tournament 7 years ago (seemed longer ago than that)
  • DJ's 15 assists tied the Rhodes area record.
Didn't Reggie set the Rebounding record there last year?

Quote from Dambrot
  • They were just better than us tonight.
  • They played so much zone because they can't gaurd us man to man
Thos are the only two I remember off the top of my head, but the rest were about how dumb he felt his team played last night and all the open looks the Bobcats got.

I listened to it also on the way home from the game. The comment about being better than Akron was the only positive thing Dumbbrat said about OUr team.  It was all about how bad Akron was, rather than maybe the opponent played pretty well. He threw just about everyone under the bus except for the kangaroo.  Kept talking about what a great job he's doing trying to teach the team and get them going in the right direction, but they're just not listening.  Thought he was going to strangle the announcer when he said the team had a "better strategy" in the 2nd half (could be inferred that meant he didn't think the strategy -- coaching -- was so good in the first half.)

Regardless it was nice to walk out of the JAR with a win.

It was 8 years ago, actually.

Dambrot is an ass. Even when he gives a compliment, it's a backhanded one.

But honestly, I'm glad he's an ass. I've hated Akron for years and every time we play them, he gives me more justification.

The write-up on www.ohiobobcats.com initially said seven years and now says the first since 2002, which also is not correct. It believe it was at the end of 02-03 season in the first round of the MAC tournament, making it nearly eight years ago, as you said.

The actual game was March 10, 2003....first post-season game of the 2002-2003 season.  It will be 8 calendar years in slightly less than 2 months from now.  I suspect they said 2002 as it was that season?  Pesky new year thing.

I was there in person for that last win at Akron; it was a road first round MAC tournament game.  As I remember, Jeff Halbert had a huge game.  It came down to the last minute.

Right after he was notified that he did not make the All MAC Freshman team...Chip firmly on shoulder that night.

Haha, funniest thing I've heard you old guys say in a long time.
