I have been one of TJ's biggest advocates on this board. Been asking for more minutes and JG has delivered. Yes I did like seeing him drive that one to the hole and also play a little physical inside and grab some rebounds. And while I've been asking to see more of him during the first half of the season, I don't at this point believe he's the missing piece of the puzzle. In fact, I don't believe the missing piece is on the roster right now. TJ has proven to be more of a spot up shooter ala Tommy. He rarely drives the ball to the basket and rarely/if ever drives, draws a double team and kicks it to an open guy. Not really a knock on him as he is a valuable asset, but that just doesn't appear to be his game right now. His game appears to be more of a guy who can knock down a jumper at a more consistent rate as the season has progressed. We certainly can use that skill set on this team and I still like the recruit. However I think he and most of the other guy would really benefit from a #2 guard who's a playmaker. We've seen this issue all season long. Other than when we call a set play, a very normal offense for us is everyone grab a corner of the court; set a couple picks for DJ and well....I'm not really sure what you do tied-up at 70 with 10 seconds to go other than let DJ come up with something. The options just seem so very limited. And while I like TJ a lot as an option to get a kick-out for an open jumper, we still need that guy who can create the space for him to get than open jumper. Same can be said for Kellog. He either runs that little weave on the top of the key or finds a corner to set up camp in. Like TJ, not the kind of guy right now who can drive it; attract help defense; and find the open guy for an open look. Hope either one/both of them develop this or someone on the recruiting list for next year has this skill set.
