To light a fire under this team?  I mean, we have to play good to get good players and really who would want to come to OU right now?  We can't even win at home this year.  Cooper plays great, some good signs from Baltic, Kellogg has shown a lot of potential, Hall can play too.  I am upset with Freeman and Devo.  I don't see any leadership coming from these guys.  I am sitting here trying to figure out what is lacking in this team.  I see things that need to be fixed but are they?  I don't know the figure but I am sure we got out rebounded again last night.  I just wanna see our team do good and we all know they have the capability.

We gave up eight offensive rebounds and had 20 defensive rebounds, meaning we rebounded at a 71.4 percent clip, which is slightly above average. We actually did a pretty good job keeping them off the offensive boards, but we got nothing on the offensive glass. Just five and a rebounding rate of 19.2 percent. That's very low. So as a whole, yes, we were out-rebounded again, but this time it was more a product of not getting any offensive boards, and overall, it was a minimal factor.

It certainly doesn't get easier against Buffalo on Saturday.  I watched them against Kent on the tube and they will be tough to handle.

When running their O against the man2man they really make lots of cuts and score most/all of their points from 10ft or less.  Their 3 shooting was not that good for the early part of the game so they really went for the basket. Against the zone they still were able to get the ball low.  They try to force it and Kent was able to steal lots of passes but they were relentless at this type of attack and pulled away.  It seemed like every offensive player was a scorer so it doesn't appear that you can shut down 1 or 2 and stop them.

On defense they have shot blockers and had excellent help defense.  As soon as a Kent player made a nice move to get into position to do something there was another defender covering him and no easy outlet passes to be made.  Did I say they block shots?  And they are all over the boards--at both ends.

Is this what we are?  The MAC hasn't really had a team in the last few years that has just rolled through the league.  Kent has gotten through it with 3 losses I think, but not one 'runaway' team.  Given that the conference only ever puts in its' tourney champ, does the regular season even matter?  If Groce gets hot again, and we pull off 4 wins in March, will anyone even care we finish 5th in the MAC East?

I wouldn't be surprised if after this weekend everyone in the East is either 3-2 or 2-3 (Ohio beats Buffalo, Akron tops BG, Kent State beats Miami). Of course Ball State is the class of the West, but that's not saying much. I think you are right. Come the MAC tournament, it could be a major toss-up.

I care.  While a trip to the NCAAs is obviously thrilling, in many respects a MAC regular season title is more satisfying to me, as it represents 2+ months of excellent basketball, instead of just a single week.  A school with our basketball history should have more than 1 MAC regular season title in the last 25 years.

I feel like both Flomo and I have said this a million times...I agree completely.  I want a MAC regular season championship BAD.  It has been WAY too long.

A regular season title would be outstanding, no doubt.  I've said I don't know how we don't have a regular season title with names like Hunter, Este, Flomo, Williams, and Tillman in the last 10 years.

However, I doubt a MAC title lands us on the frontpage of the USA Today...

Being the resident Buckeye Bobcat, I'm not surprised it is national attention you crave the most.  No, it wouldn't land us on the front page of the USA Today, and that was definitely awesome, and perfect for the casual Bobcat fan.  But in a lot of ways, those of us who follow every single game and spend many hours commuting to most home games, a hard fought regular season championship over the course of the regular season is more rewarding and fun to watch.

I don't know what it will take, but I'm pretty certain that January 20 is not the first opportunity for somebody to step up and be a leader.

I suspect Godot will be here any moment, and he will take care of all this. And if I were to leave and he was to appear, how foolish I would be.

Unfortunately, the 15 minutes of fame crowd is pervasive in our society.  Nothing else matters to them.  Certainly not each game during the regular season.  I'd love to see a 12-4 or better conference record sometime.  You don't think that would build up fan support at home?    Going home after losing 60% of the MAC games  in the regular season does not build a fan base.  Hoping for 4 wins in March and a win over Georgetown isn't going to happen very often.  If that's your measure of success, you're going to be  disappointed 95% of the time.

Andrew is right...tradition is built on Conference Championships NOT two lucky weeks in March once every ten or fifteen years.  I'd much rather win the Championship!
