No "Killer Instinct" in this team.

Up by 18 at halftime and get beat by 5,   Buffalo came out and punched us right square in the mouth in the 2nd half and Ohio didn't fight back, throw out the X's and O's and the rebounding, This team is lacking the "Killer Instinct" to put teams away. It has happened all year, not being able to stick the dagger in opposing teams to close out the Victory. Ohio punched Buffalo in the mouth in the 1st half and Buffalo was dumb founded. But the shoe was on the other foot in the 2nd half,  For some reason this team cannot play with the "Killer Instict" for 40 minutes.

We're not a bad team, we're really not,  it's hard for me to sit there in the Convo and watch this team lose, because I know we're a hell of alot better than we're showing.  If todays loss doesn't wake this team up,  then nothing will.   It's all about the "Dagger" and we just don't have it.

I'm wearing Pink shirt to the game Wednesday Night against Eastern Michigan,  because thats how we're playing. I haven't givin up on this team and I will be there and support them til the very end,  But the time is now to step up and put the FIGHT back in the Cat ! !  we can still salvage this season.

I think I'd be less upset if we really were just plain bad.  The thing is, we aren't, and we are right there, we just cannot seem to get over the hump and finish.

I disagree.  We are bad.  It's a combo of not enough talent (lack at key positions), poor scheme on offense, and poor execution and scheme on defense.  These lacks leave us unable to do what it takes.

So, the lack of killer instinct is rooted in the ability to get it done.  (Kinda this:  you can't kill if you don't have the weapon.)

Season's not over--but we need some dramatic change.

Maybe there's some help on the bench.  Worth trying as what we're going with now isn't doing it.

  "IT's DAGGER TIME"

Marshall Game :   Down by 9 in 2nd half, Ohio rallys to tie the score at 55 with 3:35 left in the game. only to fail to finish Marshall off and lose 65 to 57.

IUPUI Game :  Ohio up 10 with 8:25 to play, Ohio again fails to stick the Dagger in IUPUI and lose 66 to 56.

St. Bon. Game :  Got 3 point lead in OT, only to fail to stick the Dagger in and finish off the Bonnies and lose in 4 OT's.

Temple Game :   Temple took the lead and won it wire to wire.

Robert Morris Game :  Ohio up by 12 with 15:39 to play only to lose the lead and get down by 7 with 3:57 to play, Ohio fought back to tie, only to lose in OT. again No Killer Instinct.

Miami Game :  up 4 with 7:30 to go in the game and had a 3 point lead with 3:27 to go in the first overtime and end up losing in 3 OT's,  another failure to stick the Dagger in and finish.

Kent St. Game  : Ohio Down by as many as 10, Ohio fought back and took the lead 66 to 63 with 1:39 left in the game only to fail to stick the Dagger in and finish.

BGSUcks Game :   Down by 1 late in the 2nd half, Ohio had 3 straight possessions that they failed to score and put BG away, No Killer Instinct.

Buffalo Game :  Ohio blows an 18 point halftime lead and again fails to stick the Dagger in the Bulls and finish them off.

This team needs to get some swagger and some "Killer Instinct"  we have competed in every game except for the Kansas game,  when Ohio gets ahead late in the game, the time is NOW to break out the Dagger and cut the snakes head off and it starts with the MAC West  Wednesday night.

I never thought of this but it's a perfect explanation of the team.  I have seen them battle back and just like they run out of steam or something.  If they can find that inspiration to put away the game, then we will start seeing some wins.  Someone needs to step up on the court and take over the leadership.  I don't care who it is now.  If the seniors won't do it, then Cooper or Baltic or Kellogg or whomever.  It was said that last Saturday when OSU was down 8 points against Illinois, Sullinger was telling his team not to worry, that they had this game.  Why can't we find someone on the team to do the same exact thing?  Step up and take the role!!! JG can only do it from the sidelines, he can't do it on the court, in the middle of the battle.  Just someone, please step up!!!!

Sometimes the perceived lack of killer instinct is a failure to address the other team's adjustments.  That's on the coaching staff rather than the players.

Sometimes it comes with youth as well.
