Granted the competition was Eastern Michigan and Bowdry was in foul trouble, but the post play was outstanding Wednesday night. And actually, Eastern has been a pretty good rebounding team. Ohio had been awful in MAC play to this point, so that is big.

Ohio outscored Eastern Michigan 32-10 in the paint.
Previous games:
Miami 26, Ohio 24
Akron 28, Ohio 26
Kent State 42, Ohio 30
Bowling Green 32, Ohio 22
Buffalo 32, Ohio 28

Also rebounding, Ohio grabbed 78.8 percent of defensive rebounds  (very good) and 30.0 percent of offensive rebounds (average).
Previous games:
vs. Miami: 54.5% defensive, 21.1% offensive
vs. Akron: 61.9% D, 20.7% O
vs. Kent State: 45.5% D, 33.3% O
vs. BG: 71.4% D, 19.2% O
vs. Buff: 61.5% D, 38.7% O

It was by far the best defensive rebounding game, which has been the biggest struggle.

Washington was the biggest reason for this. He had a great game. He had nine rebounds, all of them defensive. He also was aggressive at the hoop, which is good, because when he is, he draws a lot of fouls. I hope to see it continue.

After missing some chip-shots around the rim early in the game and thinking "here we go again" I saw two things I like:

*DW was actually trying to dunk everything close to the rim.  Realize that's not always possible, but with him that should be a good goal.
*Baltic actually passed out to an open shooter once receiving the ball in the post, which is something we rarely see out of our post guys.  Usually when you pass it into them, it's a black hole whether they can get a quality shot or not.

I agree, Chichen George. But not only passing it back out. Many times the double team comes from the other post player, leaving an Ohio post player open underneath. Would like to see Baltic, Keely and Washington look for each other when drawing help defense down low. Did see it once late last night when Baltic, at the baseline near the basket, hit a cutting Hall (I think) on the other side of the basket for a layup.

REMARKABLY little posting (and, apparently, enthusiasm) for the 'Cats lately here.

Home smash of a really lousy EMU--means very little..........without follow-up in the next four games.
