CMU Telecast - Frustration Again

According to the DirecTV listing, tonight's game against CMU is on STO. So I tune in and yet again an OU or MAC game is blacked out around the country on DirecTV. I have no idea why the MAC would want to, or agree to, having a game blacked out. The MAC needs exposure, not the other way around. The game is likely available in Ohio and Michigan, but not around the country.

Sometimes when a game is blacked out, it is because the MAC has sold the game to ESPN for its pay-per-view Full Court package. But I just checked and the OU game isn't being offered there either.

It makes absolutely no sense to me.

Frustration.

Sorry, DXer. It's coming in great here in Athens on 1308. I guess you need some sporadic E, or more sun spot activity to pull it in down at your QTH.

Well, look at the bright side. It's technically a real good HD telecast, and Reggie is a good announcer, who really knows his MAC sports.

OCF, like the Bobcats, I don't think this was one of Reghi's best nights. He got lots of names and possessions mis-matched tonite and was a little off his usual best tonite., IMHO. Maybe it's just my frustration though, I didn't have access to STO and bought the feed thru the CMU website which was the STO telecast. The video quality was about as unwatchable as our performance, you could not make out the score and the feed disappeared totally the last 75 seconds.

I liked how CMU's roster, according to Reghi, was the fifth youngest in the country at the beginning of the broadcast and grew younger as the game wore on. Later in the game it was the fourth youngest and then the "third-to-fourth youngest."

I agree, BS, that it wasn't his best; however, over cable the video was excellent HD quality. The camera work was occasionally a little weird, but overall it was almost like being there. And, I'm glad I wasn't!

I share your frustration DXer. I live in North Carolina and have Dish Network and like you planned to watch the game but alas it was blacked out. Not really sure why the need to black out an Ohio-CMU matchup this year.
