OMG get him out of there.  He can hardly move.  Why even risk it in this game?

Russ just confirmed it was an ankle sprain.  Coo did start the second half.

I didn't see it, but hopefully it's not the dreaded high ankle sprain

Groce said he'll be fine.

It was ludicrous that he was out there for 2 minutes in the 2nd half.  He probably just said he is fine because he is a gamer.  I thought it looked like it was REALLY bothering him.  After he sat down for good, he limped pretty drastically for the 5 feet from the bench to the huddle during timeouts.  Coach knows much more than I do...but I am surprised to hear he'll be fine.  I thought at a minimum it would hinder him in the next couple games.

GIven the extent to which he was limping, I thought it was a very poor coaching decision to start him in the second half and risk making the injury worse or have another injury because of his lack of total stability on this feet.  In the post-game interview JG says something to the effect that they won't know the extent of injury until they get some X-rays tomorrow.  If so, how can you justify that he started in the second half?   I find this whole thing very weird.  Here's hoping it's a minor sprain and DJ is back on the court soon -- but not before he's healed.

Hope DJ is okay... that was scary.

Right before the 2nd half started, Groce went over to DJ, put his arm around him and talked to him for a few seconds. I'm no mind-reader, but I thought he was probably asking DJ if he was sure he wanted to try it.

There was ZERO upside to starting DJ in the second half. Even with our trivails at home this year, Toledo never looked to pose any serious threat, and we already had a double digit lead. I know DJ is a true gamer and probably told Groce he could give it a go, but Groce in my opinion was "grossly" negligent in not taking control and telling DJ we owe you one, we'll win this one for you, take a seat next to me and enjoy the 2nd half.  IF he didn't know the extent of the damage to DJ's ankle at half-time, why would you even risk further injury to it, by allowing him to play in the 2nd half. It was clear from watching DJ attempt to do the routine lay-up stuff when he came out of the lockerroom at the half, that that kid had NO business being on the court with that injury.

BS, you and I saw this situation exactly alike.  JG is the coach.  If a young man like DJ wants to start but clearly is having that much difficult even walking, it's up to coach to say, "No"!  I lost a little bit of respect for JG because of the way he handled this situation.  We all make mistakes, and he's still a young coach, so I don't want to make too big a deal about it, but I will be looking more closely at how he handles any similar issues in the future.
