Anyone read the new troop?  He makes some great points about other benefits that athletics brings to a college.  Alot of the academic departments have some ties to athletics as well, so its interesting to see how they would be negativly affected financially and academically.

I'm one of those students who have gained practical experience through the athletic department and I agree completely with some of Troops comments. The opportunities I have gained and the connections I have made through OUr athletic department are going to be invaluable to my career as I graduate at the end of this year.

Kind of tough to take the guy seriously when he makes this kind of statement :

And while people don’t come to an institution for its academic standing,

Since, two paragraphs earlier, Mr Troop's blog says "simply for its "academic standing",its pretty obvious to me that this was just a typo .
