This program was referenced on the front page of today's Messenger.  This is the program that was put together a few weeks ago with interviews on campus.

I think I may make a cameo in this.  Not interviewed, though.

Awesome, now if these journalists could just link us to the video we could watch their work.  Instead, they have the link going to the environmental story which, based on the comments, is not very well done!

If you get WOUB you can watch the whole thing at 8:30 tonight.

Thanks Alan, I'll try to remember to turn it on while listening to the Fiami game online!  Hopefully somebody fixes the link as well.

I figured I'd DVR it while I watch the basketball game online.

No online video for the game tonight...but if you are talking about Kent/Akron, then the PBS program will probably be on during the game's halftime show.

Man, I would've bet money on New Coke.

Darn, I was hoping that Miami had the same great service that we have - home games online.  Oh well, I guess I'll just have to rake leaves until the show comes on.

No way.  It is all clearly the fault of grade school teachers and college professors.

They finally got the link right to the show.  Other than the "garden variety" comment at the beginning of the show, I found the piece fairly balanced.  If nothing else, it sure did show a great looking university.

If someone really suggests we drop to D2 Athletics they really have no clue what they are talking about.

Oh, and I guess someone forgot to tell G-town we were out of our league. They acted like we should not be playing big name programs, yet we have for a 100 years? In my opinion this video was crap.

D2 would be okay if this school was 10,000 students. At 34,000 system wide students and growing Ohio is too big for the D2 level. The school is pretty lucky to be in an FBS conference with instate rivals, many schools have it far worse in D1.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

That's a real shame, Sky King, watch a 14 minute program and all you take away is a probably misspoken reference about going to D 2 (probably meant 1 AA like Appalachian State or SIU).  Regardless, there was a great deal more in the piece than that including the last 65 seconds.

You're kidding me, Alan. You found this piece fairly balanced? This was a hatchet job on the sports program. The overall tone of the piece--and I can't believe you missed it--was that the university is in major funding trouble, and the athletics department is THE reason why. They even went so far as to "balance" the leaky roof in the music building with "excesses" of athletic spending.

(Interesting they showed only men's programs in their B footage. You would think women's programs at OU were nonexistent.)

"Almost half of student fees go to the athletic department."  Now how many casual viewers will assume that meant total student cost (tuition) to attend the university?

Could they find no faculty members to offer a counterpoint to the Dr. Ridpath? Could they interview no students to offer counterpoint to Mr. Hippelite (sp?)?

Ultimately, the student athletic fee was not a hidden addition to these students. They knew about it when they chose to attend OU. There are plenty of academic options available to students with no athletic fee. The choice is theirs to make.

Regardless of how you feel about the athletic budget and the overall budget issue at OU, I don't see how you could describe this piece as "balanced."

Hopefully not too many of those casual observers are OU grads or we really do need to re-direct money towards academic departments that teach logic and media literacy.

Wow i forgot if you state an opinion on this board you are attacked by everyone...Honestly I did not think it was fair and balanced and obviously i was just pointing out one big flaw in the program. But if you want to be a Dick about it thats cool i guess. I never understood why people are soo mean to each other on here, Are we all the rooting for the same team?
