I have been quite critical of this coaching staff over the last couple years, arguing that we have largely under performed in the regular season.  This year in particular, I have to admit that I lost most hope for the year once we fell to 8-11 and 1-4 in the MAC.

And while I still believe we could have performed much better earlier in the season, I must admit that the coaching staff has done a phenomenal job turning things around over the last month or so.  It would have been all too easy for the team to quit after the Buffalo loss at home.  Instead, the team really buckled down, and rallied to improve dramatically.  While the players have worked hard, Coach Groce and company also deserve a lot of credit for our turnaround.

Win or lose on Friday, we are the team that no one wants to play in Cleveland.  And if we can maintain the level of play we exhibited last night, no one in the league will beat us.  Major kudos to the coaching staff on a job well done turning this ship around.

I think the seniors Washington and Freeman deserve huge credit.  They have played great the past month. They are doing what seniors do this time of year.  Groce deserves a lot of credit.  Getting Johnson in the rotation was a huge plus.  Baltic's emergence as a primary scoring option has opened up everybody.  Teams have no answer for Baltic and Washington inside. None, Zip, Nada......They can't leave Tommy, Kellogg, or Coop to help.......Coop gets his shot going down we are unbeatable. Akron found out the hard way.

Please give credit to all for working their butts off to make this team to be recognized and feared.  I would say that Ohio,  Kent and WMU are hot numbers.  I am so proud of this team and coaching staff no matters what happens in the next ten days.  A loss I will be disappointed, but I am still very proud to be a BOBCAT!

Coach Groce continies to impress me on his team preparation and how he elevates his teams in the latter part of the season.  I was disturbed in the last night game announcers opinions on COY, POY and 1st team considerations.  Groce has taken a team with 3 starters from last year and comming to the wire with the hottest team using freshmen.  Geno usiing JC and thugs.  Cole using 4 returners and 1 freshman. Groce also should be a strong consideration.  Cooper has been strong all year and Freeman has been very steady all year and should be considered.  Hopefully winning the tournament again will be documenation for these considerations.

Just looking at COY objectively, we were a team that was picked to win the MAC and will probably finish 4th-5th. I dont think that is going to get Groce many votes.

+1 Flomo, in the middle third of the season it was clear that the team and staff were really struggling with one another, and while you could see glimmers of talent the group was not at all on the same page.  Body language on the bench and floor was awful and teammates appeared to not be jiving with one another.  Flash forward to the last third and the chemistry is certainly there, teammates are supporting each other (picking one another up off the floor after taking charges, etc), and the whole team looks like they are comfortable in making a contribution.  More players are being asked to contribute offensively, and when players have a big night it seems to be that it is a product of them having the hot hand on that night, not just a product of Coach going to only one or two options time and again hoping they deliver.  There is a lot to like right now; lets hope the mojo carries through the next few weeks.

The Few, The Proud, The Bobcats!

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

"This isn't just another walkover from the MAC." Kirk Herbstreit, another DB, on College Football Gameday

While the overall results haven't been much better than the previous regime I think the difference is in the details. Under TOS this team would start off hot and then struggle down the stretch.  This team struggled early the last two seasons but has been hitting on all cylinders down the stretch.  Makes for exciting Marches.

This in-season improvement will hopefully translate across seasons if personnel remains more stable. Looking forward to finding out. There are few things better than an exciting March, though.

Yea, I mean its a big difference between November and February success. A HUGE difference. As I've been saying all season you've got to give Groce a break. He is still coaching with somebody elses players for the most part. Next year if he pulls the same number and goes 5-8 over his first 13 home games I think some serious questioning is in order.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Huh?  Only 3 of the players on the current roster are TOS recruits (4 if you want to count Steve Coleman).  This roster is overwhelming Groce's.
