Now I find myself just really disliking them, with a little respect on the side.  I really do hate everything about Akron, though.  From the start of the game when the shrieking Akron hoochies were yelling during Devo's FT attempts, to the timeout Dambrot called with less than a minute (was he setting up a last second 28-point play?), they exhibited less class as time went on.  I loved each air ball more than the last.  I even enjoyed passing a beat up pickup truck driving slowly on the way home with a license plate that read "ZIPS FAN".  Why advertise that?  He must have been connected to the team because he couldn't get over 55 in Athens County either.

Don't forget McNees getting into it with a group of fans with about a minute to go.  Take your bad haircut, 0 for 5 night, and 25 point loss and shut up dude!

During Dambrot's last ridiculous timeout, I swear I saw him give an air elbow while in the huddle with his players, as if instructing them to give it to someone.  This is pure speculation, but that guy just seems like a sleeze ball to me.

Is Brett McKnight from somewhere closer to Athens than Akron?  He had a LARGE contingency of people seemingly there for him.

No love lost for Akron from my end, either.  I do want to comment on the timeout use by Akron late in the game.  To me, this isn't about a 28 point play.  Coach may have been driving home a point to his players.  If I am getting taken to the woodshed the way Akron was last night, I want my players to know how that feels and how awful it feels to get beaten that bad.  Akron extended the game, perhaps, to drive home that point.  The lesson - this is what a beating feels like and I'm going to make you better by prolonging the game by utilizing every last timeout I have and making our team realize that we are better than this.  We will not get beat like this again and if we are, I'll use every last timeout again.  I support the timeout use, I think it was a coach getting into the heads of his players.

According to a quote in the Messenger, Dambrot took 3 timeouts in the final minute to remind his team to look at the scoreboard and remember that they will have other opportunities. Oookay.... I'm sure OUr team is looking forward to those opportunities too.

Glad to see the last of the McKnights in Athens... although they were pretty quiet this trip. The McKnight who finished his eligibility last year (can't remember his first name) was there and sitting in the row behind me... he and his father are very fond of yelling at the refs to "get in the game." He caught a 'be blue' t-shirt and an older woman who was sitting with him (Grandma McKnight?) caught an OZone shirt. I worry a little to think what Grandma will do with that shirt, but being that she kept clapping along to Stand Up and Cheer, I'm not sure she understood what was going on anyway.

Looked to me like Dambrot would have been OK if a fight would have been started late. When he put Bardo in with 13.3 seconds left, I was afraid something bad was going to happen. But it looked like everything went without incident.

What happened?

Also, HeHate, as far as Mr. McKnight goes: Integrity of the game!

You'd think Akron would stop the trash talking to DJ by now...it clearly doesn't affect him.  In fact it just pisses him off!

Thank you, anorris.

Dragon... I couldn't hear what was said, but in the final seconds of the game when McNees was on the bench, he turned around and had words with some of OUr fans sitting behind the scorer's table.

Last night, I turned to Alex and said, "How much will Akron fans hate DJ by the time he's a senior?"

Guess what, Zippies?  Gotta see him at least four more times.

The best part of that thread is when Zeke's mom comes on defending her son.  LOL.

That, and the realization that they would need to add at least one more player. And we would still say no.

That was funny.  I thought it was interesting that she would rip other players on the team though.

The best part of that thread is the guy pointing out to Zeke's mom that "Cooper had 8 rebounds and Zeke had 2.  And Cooper is 5-8."

The O Zone definitely got an "f--- you" with a raised fist from an assistant coach for Akron during one of the chants mocking Akron in the last minute.

I agree with the dislike for Akron.  But I have a real problem with this statement.  Time for you to reassess your priorities.

Was the assistant coach McFadden?  There has been bad blood with him in the past.

Did anyone see the box out Marshall tried to put on Ethan during a foul shot. Ethan rode him clear out of bounds. It was if Ethan was giving him a message,  See you next year. Boy has a mean streak. Loved it.

omg, Momma Zeke's post is off the chain! She straight called out "MCNEESE" in all caps for sucking and then went on to brag about her boy breaking some blocks record IN 40 FOOT LOLCAT FONT. she's all mad that they'd want to trade Zeke for Coop, she should be happy at the idea of her boy finally playing for a winner.

It's less than 24 from tipoff.  I hate Miami again.  (I do still hate Akron, also)
