No details yet... wonder what happened.

I agree, but Hunter was coach at IUPUI.

Ron Hunter was head coach at IUPUI, from the Summit League. Not sure who you are thinking of.

That was a brain fart on my part...I was confusing Hunter with Billy Taylor at BSU.  That'll teach me to post too early in the morning.

There was similar head scratching when Jim Larranaga left BG for a bottom of the barrell CAA George Mason.

Georgia State is spending on athletics to attract students, build loyalty and pride, and for positive public relations.

They must be idiots.....

Will be interesting tosee where his son ends up finishing a very stellar HS career. He is a junior on a veryu good Pike(Jeff Teague,Courtney Lee)  team that just lost in Regionals to North Central (Eric Gordon). WOnder if he will end up at Lithonia or oone of the powers of HS ball in GA. Will also be interesing to see if he pulls the committo GA State a la McCallum at Detroit  and Zeigel at CMU or if he commmits to any of the major universities vying for his services.

EDIT story in Indy star. Good, point on spending . but when Tommy and I went to the slam dunk 3 pt championship in that gym we both joked aboutit being a  HS Gym not unlike the Jungle at IUPUI I guess.OTOH.. ..like BG and Akronin our league his recruiting may be a bit easier as the student that can be admitted witrh decideliy lower standards than many opthers inthe league.

You're right about Laranaga. I thought the same thing when he left BG. But now it's obvious that the mid level leagues  that don't play division one football, like the Horizon, West Coast and Colonial, and even Atlantic 10, have an advantage in basketball. They pay higher salaries for coaches than the MAC and now have an advantage over us.

How about Kirby Hocutt hiring Billy Gillespie at Texas Tech? I thought with what went down at Kentucky he wouldn't get that high of a job. I guess they are desperate to win there.

Why are you surprised Hocutt hired Gillisipie?

It was the EASIEST hire ever, and as we've seen in the past - Hocutt does no actual work. There were no other candidates in the mix for the job, that tells you how easy it was. All he had to do was hammer out a contract. Any real AD would have conducted an actual "search"- and frankly I think they would have come up with a better candidate.

Joke-Cutt just shows up, fires up his computer, plays a bunch of freecell and minesweeper,  follows the script then bolts before he has to quit his last game of solitaire or Freecell.

Can't wait until BCG gets his first DUI in town and Hocutt has to control the damage, not to mention gets slaughtered in the re-configured Big 12 by the likes of Texas, KU, K-State, Missouri, Iowa State, A&M, and Baylor.

The people in Lubbock are dumber than rocks bringing Hocutt to town. Just unbelievable.

In an unusual stroke of brilliance and insight BL hits the nail on the head! Kirby sucks up debree like a vacuum cleaner and when the bag bursts and the dust cloud pollutes the air he skips town.

Georgia State is moving up in football so they may end up in the Sun Belt.  The school profile will change when that happens.  Bill Curry is their football coach.  This would be a step up from the Summitt League.

Yes, agreeing enthusiastically.  I've long said that the emphasis on FBS football in the MAC has largely led to our basketball slipping as a league.

I didn't understand. But I suppose it is like the wine called est! est!! est!!!,  here is the legend:

What a great name! Est! Est!! Est!!! is a wine created in Montefiascone, north of Romae around the 'Lago di Bolsena' (Lake Bolsena). The white wine is made from trebbiano and malvasia grapes. It's a pretty low-key semi-sweet wine with a small amount of effervescence and mild, fruity flavors.

The fun part about this wine is its name. Apparently it was named this in the 1100s, during the times of Henry V. A German bishop, Johann Fugger, needed to go to Rome for his coronation. He sent his lacky ahead of him to mark the inns serving the best wines with "Est!" on their doors in chalk. This stood for vinum est bonum, the wine is good. When this runner hit Montefiascone, he liked the wine there so much that he wrote "Est! Est!! Est!!!" on the door!

With a name like that, he probably had a rough childhood.
