Going into the tourney I had some trepidation as to the coverage nad hwo the normal Pro guys would cover the college game.

I welcomed the ability to select mutliple games because that is how I watch all year.4 or 5 games at a time going back oand forth utilizing Tivo to get caught upin commercials. This is heaven for me personally

The barkley Walker Francis group is hilarious. Charles is willing to be the Ed Mcmahon of the group and plays it well while the perspective from guys who moved on from college to pretty accomplished careers at the next level bring some pretty sweet analysis

The director of officials apppearing subsequent  to the Butler game was timely and gave greeat insight. 2 of the dumbest fouls in tourney history.

The guest coaches have come in and been good but Phil martelli is doing a great job. While I am a great fan of the insight Knight gives I am also appreciative of what other guys bring tothe table. Martelli talking about Pullen breaking downinthe presser said what I have held to be true for many years.  "there isn't a coach or player who cares about the game that does not want to go out there one more day and have a chance to get just a little better"

I rem, ember a wuote from somewhere that one of the alltime great players said when asked whatthe greatest gift the game left him was...his was the best reply I have evr heard... " I am thankful that for a long time it gave me one more day ..."

All in all I am happy to see CBS take this approach and for Directv to have placed the three other channels right next to each other.

I'm with you. The spacing of the start times have been good, too, because I've been able to watch the second half of almost every game. Mrs. UpSan has been out of town for a conference since Wednesday and gets back today. I missed her, of course, but it's been nice to have complete control of the TV remote and to be able to watch basketball all day long.

I'm mostly happy with their arrangement.  I really don't pay that much attention to the in-studio people; last year during the OU-Whoyas game they spent about two minutes analyzing the game, about 1:50 of which focused on the Whoyas' lousy play and ten seconds on OU's great game plan and execution.  What I like about this year's arrangement is not having games interrupted by cut-ins to other games that are having "fantastic finishes."  Last year, I nearly threw my shoe through the TV when they switched from the last five minutes of OU's win to something else.  Fortunately, they jumped back in about ten seconds out here.  This year, if I want to see a buzzer-beater, I can use my remote.

My one relatively minor complaint is that games of local interest don't show up on the local CBS affiliate.  I'm sure Channel 10 in Columbus screamed loud and long when they found out that they weren't getting to carry A&M's first two games, and they probably got quite a few complaints from viewers.  There's still a fair percentage of people (15-20% or more) who don't subscribe to cable or satellite.  As a former broadcaster, I think it's a shame that the local team's games aren't available for free to 100% of the area through the local affiliate.  Maybe next year -- when the Cats are back in it -- they can fix that.

Wally Szczerbiak is an analyst for CBS. I've only seen him once though. Wonder if he's still waiting by the phone for an NBA team to call.

Wally also did Miami games for ONN.

One drawback, IMO, is having late games on Sunday night. Am I mistaken, but didn't games previously end around 7 p.m. on Sundays of the first weekend? I thought my dad couldn't be correct when he told me yesterday that ND's second game of the tournament doesn't begin until 9:40 Sunday night. Can be difficult from some of us to stay up that late.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure games did get done earlier in the past. I'd rather have them spread out, though, so I can watch all day.

Agreed here, but I imagine TBS, TNT, and truTV probably aren't set up to regionalize coverage, since you'd have to regionalize all four networks for that to work.

Plus, it would cause even more confusion than there already is.

I've been very happy with the coverage so far (but I get all four networks in Athens, and all four in HD back at the home base).

borna--you mentioned Knight.  Aside from whether he's an ass or not, I still remember Alford running guys thru tons of picks.  Why don't I see that anymore?  (not Alford; dedicated efforts to get shooters space)  I'm also guessing that he favors tough interior defense such as i advocate.

Allow me to quote myself:

Second, the DJ has played this song before.  They load up on home wins, play competitively in the Big East, win a game in the BE tournament... then flame out on opening weekend.

This season hasn’t exactly the same. They haven't played this well in the conference in quite some time, and this is probably the best team since Austin Carr wore the navy and gold.  But sometimes, your identity is your identity, and no number of cosmetic changes will make a difference.  Is this program a true March contender?  They've yet to show it.  Forgive me for not jumping on the Irish bandwagon; too much history cautions me otherwise.
