Congratulations to the Horizon and Colonial leagues.  Super accomplishment to send two midmajors to the Final Four in the same season.  Incredible exposure for those two schools and conferences.

The MAC and Sun Belt could do the same thing, but they are more concerned with sending 1,000 fans to the Weed Whacker Bowl.

I second that congrats and my only disappointment is that these two face each other in the semi-final. Although improbable, I would loved to have seen these two in an all "Mid-Major" final, Jay Bilas be damned.

So, we have two coaches in the final four who have no, repeat, NO black marks against them and they have to face each other in the semi..........the winner will take on one of the two on the other side of the bracket, both of whom have left trails of questionable ethics to state it mildly.  Who you pulling for?

Folks are pretty excited here in Richmond.

Some State of Ohio connections for VCU:

Shaka Smart graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kenyon College and was an assistant at Akron and Dayton.

Freshman guard Rob Brandenberg graduated from Gahanna Lincoln (born in Cincinnati).

And thank you VCU for making chumps out of those "experts" who criticized tournament expansion.  It would be great if they won it all.  Maybe this will quicken meaningful expansion of the tourney field.

Jeff, you're not really taking a shot at football bowl games, are you?

It seems Jeff would like to see us downgrade to FCS in football.

Hey...when I posted that, I was expressing jealous feelings about the Horizon and Colonial seriously outperforming the MAC in basketball.  I'm frustrated that the MAC can't seem to find a way to keep up with them.

Not ready to give up on football and bowls yet, but we need to seriously consider the best investment of funds to get the biggest bang for the buck in athletics.  Are we spreading scarce funds too thinly?  Or can we continue our current course and find another way to catch up with the Horizon, Colonial, West Coast, etc.

I've attended two out of our three bowl games in the past several years, so I can't be too against it.

Hope you are right. I'm all for the 128 team field. Should have happened after last season!
