Did anyone see the article in USA Today that say's Pitino's salary this year is 7.5M, which includes a 3.5M bonus just for being on the payroll for 3 years? He gets another 3.5M if he stays another 3 years. His base is 4M. The fact that ANY midmajor with a budget of 2- 2.5M. like Butler and VCU can be in the Final Four, tells you all that is wrong in college basketball, and football for that matter.

I am sure this has been updated for the new YUM! facility and recent revitalization of the program but you get a good idea how they are paying for this

Yeah, but we get free popcorn in the Rohr Room.  Wow!  I saw those numbers and just shook my head.  Can folks in Athens complain about OBC membership with a straight face?

If by "this," you mean the new arena, I think the state paid for it.

If I lived around there I'd be a Bellarmine fan.  Season tix, the whole nine yards.  You get to watch good basketball from good seats without paying a king's ransom.

Does that price include priority seating in a local restaurant to watch Pitino have sex with a bubble headed bleach blonde?

Zing! I had forgotten about that incident. This makes his compensation all the more maddening. Coaches like that and administrators like the Fiesta Bowl management set such great examples for NCAA athletes.

After paying NCAA persons and their posses their salaries and so-called benefits, how can their possibly be any cash left over the the student-athaletes?!
