Don't know if anyone has brought this up yet but I noticed that ETSU's Justin Tubbs is in the NCAA Dunk Contest, not too surprising after seeing how he posterized Tommy.  Most of the other guys are all big D1 guys except for a UNC Asheville player and some 5'11" white boy from Illinois State that supposedly has a 50" vertical leap.

In reading their message board I believe it was mentioned that he had made ESPN Top Ten Plays 5 or 6 times this year.  Pretty remarkable for a fairly obscure school.

That's also a sign of a good Media relations department.

If the games aren't on an ESPN network its up to the school's Media Relations staff to submit the video to ESPN.

In watching the game, I heard during timeouts the broadcaster mentioning they were giong to submit his dunk to ESPN, but I didn't see that one on the top plays, unless I missed it. I thought it had a good chance since there wasn't much else going on that night.

No Tommy is not in Houston despite making a compelling argument. I remember watching him talk to Darnell Archey before the 07 contest and returning to our seat and him saying "I am gonna get here". AHHHWell..It is all politics son...hard lesson to learn but the world ain't fair. Got to think that early season broken finger did not help much. 6 weeks of battling that but we are all about NO Excuses round here.

Kudos to the Ohio guys for trying to make it happen. There are many ways to look at the stats but the bottom line is year by year the top 5 Seniors over a 4 year run according to Stat Sheet .com are

Mickey McConnell; St Marys .462
Ben Botts Muncie Central /IPFW .445
Jared Stohl Portland    .445
Tommy Freeman Muncie Central/Ohio .443
Tom Fow Air Force                      .416
Jon Deibler .415

Sounds like the made for TV version is the marketing hook here. Kids from Portland /Ohio/IPFW etc don’t make good TV. Sorry but the best of the best any way you measure it are not in

I was looking forward to watching Tommy dominate that competition, but I guess I will have more time to watch baseball tonight.

I'm honestly surprised that there are people that care about this.  I forget this thing exists every year.

It's a decent watch when it's replayed at like 1 AM as something to fall asleep to.

Yes

there are actually people who aspire to participate. Those guys who hate to lose awho strive to be the best at something actually do care about this thing.

50 inch verts?

As Rob C. would say...."That is ridiculous".

When I used to play the hoops at Grover....many moons ago.....I was the 3 point guy who needed the rebounder when I missed (which was rarely...cough cough).....I still tip my hat to to the guy who nobody picked on his team (5'10" slow white guy) Jimmy Simones from Wheelersburg Ohio......who I knew could dunk the b-ball....won a few beers with Jimmy.

That's cool.  I didn't mean it as a slight, and I realize it could have read that way.  I just honestly forget about it.

Now that intersportnet.com has taken over management and it is less about accomplishment and bringing together the best in the courntry from places like Cornell, Northern Arizona, Butler, Oakland and more about Finding Names from higher profile schools that make for lousy shooting but good recognition of the players I may join you in forgetting about it. When politics overshadow achievement I am out.

I certainly think they should change the name form 3 point CHAMPIONSHIP to 3 point shoot out or something similar because it is a misrepresentation. Hmmmmmmm ......is there any claim for misrepresentation?

Bobby Cremins and the strength of his performance vs Wichita St in the NIT

he had some of  the best numbers and hottest hand  of the guys in the contest. Was my pick to win.

Mc Connell was nice but I dont like his shot mechanics and he has been sitting for a while..
