Comments that stuck more in my mind than others when Coach Groce spoke:

Reggie didn't quite have the sophomore development that everyone including Reggie would have liked, but Coach said Reggie had an awesome spring and Coach saw a desire in Reggie's eyes that he hadn't seen before.

The team understands that offensively they were top ranked in the conference but defense and rebounding were areas that they needed to work on and show great improvement.  The MAC should be the toughest in the Coaches 4 years and that the West will make strides.

In the spring they worked on stretching Ivo's range to the 3 point line with success.

DJ worked hard on improving his right hand and DJ understands he needs to strive to be much more consistent.

Kellogg being a sophomore and the JUCO guard and Offitt, as well as recruit Taylor should help DJ's game.

Ethan Jacobs put on 20 lbs after the season ended.

Coach thanked the area fans for attending the Akron and Kent games and that the players talk in the locker room about seeing the green and white follow them at other locations.  One guy they are recruiting is also being recruited by another MAC team that had a greater initial interest to the young man until he and his family attended games at both schools and in Athens they witnessed 8,000 fans, a pep band and lots of excitement and at the other an atmosphere of dullness.

Finally, DJ was talking to the Coach on the floor of the Convo recently and asked, "Coach, do you think before I graduate from here I'll get to play to a packed house, it would be so awesome?"

Here's hoping he gets to do it on more than one occasion.

I'll add some notes from my conversations at a recent event:

1.)  We ain't ever leaving the MAC; it's not on our radar screen and won't likely ever be
2.)  Last year's football recruiting class was a disappointment in retrospect, this year's "excellent." New recruiting coordinator was a key to this improvement
3.)  Our football scheduling philosophy will not be changing any time soon
4.)  Ricardo Johnson put on 17 pounds in off-season conditioning.  "He's a beast."
5.)  TJ Hall gained 11 pounds
6.)  Temple did formally renew their agreement with MAC
7.)  Lots of upside to UMass relationship - look for them to be around for a while
8.)  Budget pressure is much more severe than even we informed fans realize.  Big cuts could be looming.
9.)  IPF fundraising going pretty well and if they hit $11 million this year construction could begin.  Will take one year start to finish.  They hope to enhance the design/amenities if they can surpass fundraising goal.
10.  IPF will be located at current practice field - will not be attached to stadium or Ping.
