No, apparently its not the scoreboard.

What happened in the O Zone? Did I miss something or was there no winning team/losing team cheer tonight?

Edit* It happened, I just must have been distracted by the awesome Brazilian part of the O Zone.

There was. It started just as our guy (sorry, I missed/forget his name) was getting ready to take his first of 2 foul shots (the second to last set of free throws of the game)

I was watching the webcast and I didn't hear or see it. Was it small or am I just going deaf?

The Brazilians were jumping up and down the whole time, they must have distracted me from it.

It started when Cooper (I think) was shooting his first free throw, which he also happened to miss.

And apparently there were a significant amount of students from a sister university in Brazil?  Russ mentioned them, and Rob stated to revoke their visa/passports because they were loud.

Rooting for Akron is like cheering on the Taliban.

I loved the Brazilians,  I didn't know who they were until way after the fact and from the webcast I was amazed at how loud and unified the ozone looked.  New chants, body swaying and a wide variety of cool chants.

I think the ozone could learn a thing or two from the brazilians. They rocked!

Also I really hope what you said about the visas thing was a joke cuz its amazingly racist and insensitive if it was actually said, esp by a radio personality.

I hope we was joking. Can't believe people actually complain about fans being too loud. What a joke.

He was saying it because he liked their energy. He doesn't want them going back to Brazil.

Ozone was the livest I ever seen it in my 3 years shout out to our over seas student! The soccer chants got me up

Yes, Rob was saying to get their passports so they would have to STAY at Ohio and not be able to get back into Brazil.

I think adding soccer-style chants would be a fantastic addition to the OZone. Just need to make them universally known in the group.

Nothing weird about it at all.  That's the loudest 4000 people I've ever seen in the Convo.  It was great to see kids just having fun as opposed to trying to orchestrate every cheer.  I agree with a previous poster, that's what a student cheering section should be.  Keely's comments certainly bear that out.  My only regret that I didn't haul my 2 year old grand daughter along.  She would have loved it!

What would have been awesome, what would have been AWESOME would be if we could have quickly taught them the scoreboard chant.

I don't know what it sounded like on the Webcast, but the O Zone went from pretty quiet to very loud and wild when the Brazilians came down.  Definitely saved the day...  Some of those chants need to become O Zone staples.  The hunt is on to find chants on Youtube!

As for Winning Team/Losing Team, up 7 going to the line with :36 seconds left might have been a little early.  Probably should've held off until after the free throws... Oh well.

I've seen crazier things happen.

No one has ever regretted inviting Brazilians to anything ever.

Are the Brazilians going to be here for the whole break?  I certainly hope so.  I really enjoyed their enthusiasm and their singing cheers and their jumping and swaying.  Really neat!

I loved the excitement our friends from Brazil brought! I think the OZone could benefit from taking and incorporating some of the things they brought to the table tonight. Though I wasn't there you could hear them through the broadcast. I hope to see them on the broadcast on Sunday! If that is the case I say teach them Winning Team Losing Team before the game or at halftime

I was down in the front row of the ozone in the middle... WOW.  I knew from watching Manchester United and Chelsey that soccer fans were insane, but I talked to a couple of the Brazilians after the game and they told us South American teams had louder fans.  I think I believe it.

I wish that they could stay longer and teach us some of those songs.

We absolutely have to incorporate soccer chants into the O Zone.  That was too awesome.

Russ's comment about taking their passports/visas was to KEEP them in Athens because he liked the noise/energy, not to force them away.

Much could be learned from soccer-style cheers and chants.  As a Crew supporter since I can remember, Crew Union does a great job of posting songs/chants (http://crewunion.com/index.php/match-day-info-topmenu-16/songs-topmenu-18).

Additionally, they have a couple meetings, errr....parties, each year to go over new ideas.

Now, I have no clue what the O-Zone does, has done, or how things are done.  What I do know is that using the KISS approach is something to consider.  Make it easy for everyone to get involved without having to have to memorize a lot.

(another note - what effect is the relocation of the cheerleaders having here)
