I didn't know where to post this, but since everything seems to happen after basketball games, this is as apt a forum as any.

I only have one question, with several sub-questions:

1. Why is the "McCafe Machine" down 1 out of every 2 times I attempt to patronize this McDonalds?

a. Is there no maintenance personnel on-call to repair the machine?

b. Are spare parts only available from the McDonalds corporate office in Oak Brook, IL?

c. When the machine is working, why does it produce some sort of ice-milk-esque concoction 1 out of 2 times I attempt to get a soft serve cone, sundae, or milkshake.

d. Since when did this "McCafe Machine" become the end all, be all, for all frozen treats in the McDonalds portfolio? When this revolutionary piece of equipment is down....no mcflurries, no milkshakes, no cones, no sundaes, NO DAMN NOTHING.

A bit of backstory. For the upteenth time after a basketball game (9.30pm), I decided I would try my hand at the Nelsonville McDonalds for a medium chocolate milkshake and 1 cheeseburger. I'm a simple man. I don't ask for much. AND in perfect syncronicity, for the upteenth time, the "McCafe Machine" was down. Complete with drive thru signage and verbal confirmation from the drive thru speaker.

Unless it was a cheap employee ploy to get out of making McCafe products (haven't ruled this out. Go to Jersey Mike's on Hamilton Road in C-bus when they are "Out of Bread" close to closing time), I don't blame the rank and file. I blame the franchisee, and I'd like answers. Stat.

Thanks.

LOVE

Solution - Burger King.  Better burgers, equally as tasty ice cream, and almost always better service.

I am forwarding this to my wife.  She has said the exact same thing about that McDonalds. Also, she wonders why they advertise Rolo as a McFlurry flavor, but have NEVER had it in stock.  We've joked that Rolo McFlurries are like the Nelsonville Bypass - maybe someday they'll come.

I don't know, he's only asking for 1 cheeseburger.  Not like he's asking for 2 double quarter pounders...not much red meat in that single.

I, for one, am eagerly anticipating his thread on shopping for fruit, in which he laments the fact that each individual piece of fruit has a sticker on it, and wonders what the hell one does with a papaya anyway.

Possibly the best thread ever, but I don't get out much.  This is really funny.

I vote Sonic. Better, more vast array of frozen treats and their burgers are surprisingly pretty good.

I'll chime in for Sonic. Loved living next door to the place. Plus, easy highway access. If you're set on McDonald's, why not try the one on Richland?

I think your first mistake was eating at McDonald's. Any McDonald's.

At the risk of making him even madder, I must add that only last weekend I did procure the best McD milkshake EVER despite the MCCafe machine being down.

Just don't take No for answer when you're talking to a speaker box.

I take it you go for a single cheeseburger as to not overexcite the innards following the poor life decisions made at Taco John's?

Could not resist - But Love, you set yourself up here. Your own posts from the "ticket office" thread, that could all be replies to your own McD's post:

"None of these sounds like issues that will permanently tilt the world off it's axis........."

"....enter your order, and quit bitching."

"....Maybe (the ticket office) just doesn't like the people who are having these chronic problems? Maybe it's personal. Maybe they are intentionally sabotaging...."

"....you must be a pain in the ass."

"Well Hayseed, jokes on you. Seriously, if you have issues....you might want to check the bathroom vanity mirror, because that would seem to be your own problem. Another flawless experience from my side of the aisle."

"Are you really that ignorant? I've left you and your insignificant/incorrect/whiny/lame drivel alone for a while...."

"Who in god's name even cares about something so tiny and miniscule in the grand scheme of things?"

Apparently you've mistaken us for someone who gives a flip about the utterly uninteresting details of your life.

Or else I'm in a weird parallel universe in which this is some variant of the 'so say us all:  miami sucks' thread.

My wife was somewhat disappointed by the same thing when we were headed home from the basketball game on Sunday. But we dont' stop enough to know that it is a regular occurrence.

If it's any help, the person who owns the McDonalds in Nelsonville, also owns all of the McDonalds in Athens and the Plains. If you have an issue, you probably could find them at one of the stores in Athens.

You're on to something LOVE. I especially LOVE the who give's a rat's _ss what the LOVE posts, posts. Seeing as how just about anything you post gets the highest number of "views" not to mention responses from the Don't Give a _uck crowd, is pretty impressive. Brilliant marketing!

I'm just glad that nobody's taken the opportunity to turn this into a bash-Nelsonville, bash-southeast Ohio thread.

I see this as progress.

Ditto!

FYI: The owner of all four Athens County McDonalds is one of the most successful African American entrepreneurs in Southeastern Ohio.  I often go to the one on Richland Avenue, and it's not too uncommon to see the owner working behind the counter.  You should see the employees hustle when he's "in the house."  I believe that he does this kind of thing at each of his restaurants a few times each month.
