That was not a block on Walter.  He had position and even the Louisville announcers admitted it.

By the way, the Louisville announcers were some of the best opposition announcers I've ever heard.

We had our opportunities to win it, but it doesn't help when the refs are missing obvious calls.

Not to mention we had 2x as many fouls called on us. And they shot 14 more free throws.

Glad to see Groce is taking the high road in the post game and not blaming the refs.  He said rebounding was the difference.  I'm sure it didn't help that Ivo missed so much time due to early foul trouble.

What's the point in blaming the refs?  That won't change the final score.  That said, there were a few calls--blocks by Ivo and Keeley out high on the 'show' come to mind--that did not involve much contact.  I hope that we get those calls in our favor at some point.

Don't expect to get any of those calls even if they were blatantly obvious.  Didn't finish the last 2 minutes.    Which we will hopefully be able to do the rest of the season.  Had a lot of missed rebounds and turnovers, because we couldn't hold onto the ball throughout game.   Anyways, fun game to watch.  Love the intensity on Defense and confidence on offense.  Bring on Marshall.

That was frustrating.  Can't blame the refs but they didn't help.  Definitely not going to get a lot of 50/50 calls on the road against a Big East opponent.

The thing  I really hate is when the refs become part of the event.  Notice the demonstration when the ref called DJ for the push off after the in-bound?  Too much theatrics and it calls into question his impartial character.  He looked excited to call it.

Still, Ohio's inability to deny good looks to the best Louisville shooters with their zone defense at the end was the killer.

That's Bob Valvano, Jim Valvano's brother and one of the classiest people you'll find.

I'm not surprised in the least that he called such an honest and fair game.

If you get to listen to espn radio overnight on the weekends then definitely do so.  You'll get a measure of how classy he is.

Oh yeah, that was indeed a horrible call, no way in the world the ref has enough guts to call it the same way if it was D.J running into Kuric or Smith.

Regardless of the how we put ourselves into that position it was a terrible home court call.

Watched the game from a sports bar in Portland, Maine.  IMHO, the referring looked very one-sided -- particularly at the end with the out-of-bounds call on the "save" and the Offut "charge."  I was watching with my son-in-law's father -- a U of L fan -- and he saw it differently.  But, he seemed unusually subdued on the ride back from the sports bar.  I think deep down he knew they'd gotten away with one.  At about the point we had that 5 point lead late, he looked very worried.  I will say this, our team looked much better than the last time we played U of L.  This should be a good season and I suspect when he run up against a team of this caliber in the post-season we'll be a much better team and might have a different outcome.  GO OHIO!

The out of bounds call was correct.  The OHIO player was standing out of bounds, jumped in bounds while catching the ball. He needs to land in bounds before he catches that ball.

It was a play which went with all the butter finger balls we had....gotta wonder how much KFC grease is really inside that building!  For both teams really...from the first play, players and the ball was flying all over the place.  I thought both sides played sloppy, almost like it was the 4th game of the year!

The double saves was definitely out of bounds and the block/charge could have gone either way without an argument. Over the course of the game far more misplays than bad calls. Great effort though. Bring it like that against MAC opponents and run the table.

The blocking call was bad but the late back-to-back turnovers did us in.

Some of you armchair refs kill me....the block was a 100% joke call. Read a rule book. To one posters comments, if a UL player were in the same spot on the other end....these showboat refs would have called a charge.

what makes the charge call on Offutt extra bad is that it seemed like there were a dozen charge calls against us where the defender appeared to be still in motion and shifting infront of our guy. If the refs were consistant than the charge call on Offutt is a no doubter.

If you read the fan quotes at the bottom the article in the Louisville paper...its pretty clear that more than a few believe UL needed home cooking to win the game.  I have been watching these MAC vs. the big boy games for decades.  I told my son once we went up six that calls would be coming.  The reason we have never beat a top 10 team on their floor is you need a perfect game where we win by 10-20 points.  The same thing happened when we played UK in Cincinnati; Thomas had the ball stolen and his front tooth knocked out in the final seconds.  UK went on a fast break missed the layup and a foul was called on Ohio.  Before UK could take the foul shots, Thomas had to be assisted laying on the floor at the other end.

Baltic's 2nd foul was one of those horrible charge calls.  At contact the only thing in front of Ivo was the defender's shoulders. His feet were both still to the left.  That was a huge call because it meant we had to play without Ivo for nearly the entire first half.

Louisville fans seem to be refreshingly level-headed. Kudos to them.

They aspire to be the opposite of the fanbase they hate, Kentucky.
