For the love of god, someone please copy and paste.

You know what Frank Solich likes most about coaching in the MAC? While he gets older, his coaching competition stays the same age, man.

I would never violate BA policy...But it is just a short 2 paragaphs.  Mentions Cooper struggling with shooting, Offutt drawing lots of fouls, and the defense being stellar (less than 1 point per possession and a high turnover rate).

It's only a few sentences.  Notes the backcourt combo of Cooper and Offut.  Cooper struggling with offensive efficiency, Offut drawing more than 4 fouls per 40 min (first to do so since Basset).

Finally they note the improved defense as what separates this team from Bobcat squads of the past.

Edit: Ruck beat me to it.

ESPN's "rumor" section is just a rehashing of somebody else's articles.  The good part is it does link to those articles. Above is the basketball prospectus article.

I'm new to the BA, won't ask again. My bad. Anyways, glad we have articles on ESPN, not to happy that it was just a few sentences though. Still, I feel that it gets the ball rolling and creates even more momentum. March can't get here fast enough.

Don't sweat it and welcome.  Keep winning and we'll have plenty of articles written.

That article was written after the Marietta game.  Since then, DJ has gone 8-11 (72%) from inside the arc and 4-10 (40%) from outside.  Just as important, he had 5 steals and 8 assists.  And that was against two pretty good teams.  If the writer wanted to find room for real improvement, he should've looked at the FT shooting: the five players getting the most time on the floor are all shooting under 70%, and Ivo is as 42%.  The FT shooting may ultimately cost more games than DJ's shot selection.

We will get by.

Anytime people are saying positive things about your program, team and players it matters! Over the next 2 seasons exposure could result in opportunities for the Bobcats. It matters!!!

Thanks for the welcoming OUVan. Now I suppose it's time for me to contribute, hope this isn't a redundant post:

Yet another Bobcat mention. "There is an argument to be made that the Bobcats are the best mid-major team in the country."

Hoo boy.  All this attention makes me nervous.  So many examples of a hot Ohio squad losing the first big home game in January over the last 20 years.  Robert Morris looms large.  Large.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

Robert Morris is important indeed.  For those that remember, we have to worry about the "Boogey Man"!

This is funny

WInning games and being a very good team that generates press is mutually independant of rankings. People CAN notice a team that is winning games and doing well without actually spending scads of time worrying about where the team is in some arbitrary poll.

I can walk you through the Indiana HS Hall of Fame ( can actually get you a personal tour with the director.), or any historical society in any small town and show you newspaper articles and clipping of great teams extolling their virtues and stories of their play and their prowess. long before any ranking system existed.

I'm really hoping some regression to the mean is in order. Otherwise, we're just a really bad team at the line.

While some of this is absolutely true we live in times when rankings do matter in getting attention. They may not be accurate in regards to teams' worth they do have an effect on the public consciousness.  ESPN for example shows highlights of every top 25 team on a nightly basis.  They do not show the #26 team's highlights particularly if it is not from one of the money conferences.  Tonight highlights from Creighton's games will be seen on ESPN. Wichita State, arguably a better team, will not be seen.  When you pull up the college basketball scores on ESPN's website it defaults to the Top 25.  So while the actual rankings aren't necessarily worth the paper they are printed on they do serve a big bonus to the teams that are in them, particularly mids.

I'll buy that argument. As G sasys though... keep on winning and it all takes care of itself. The buzz surrounding winning seems to me to be more of a tangible than a ranking number subjectively derived. Hows the saying go..."everybody loves a winner"....or is it "just keep winning and the rest will take care of itself"....or..... ya know there arent a whole lot of sayings about mediocre or losing.......winning seems to breed it s own press.

Bad decision LWF.  You might learn something.

I'll go.  Where is it located Tom?  Now that I have Indiana in my territory, I'll have to take you up on the offer.

I would think a trip to Hinkle, combined with visiting this HOF, would be a good weekend trip.

Mr Swank.

THe Indiana Hall of Fame is off I 70 at the New Castle Exit. GO northto the Shell stationonthe right. Trojan Lane. Turn right and look for the Hall onthe left. Ask for Chris May and tell him I sent you. You might be interested if he will show you the Galleys for the monthly magazine he prepared when COach Wooden died.  He walked me through the process of calling Bill Walton, Michael Warren and all the guys he had write stories for that edition.

You dont really have to go to get the point though. Any local historical society or library will have old papers that will illustrate the point that before polls existed winning generated a lot of publicity in the media. OTOH if you visit most barber shops in Indiana there will always be guys in there arguing about the local teams.
