My favorite part of the broadcast was Mix exclaiming Kellogg was in the Charge circle, when his heel was clearly not down on the circle when replayed numerous times.

I've always been pretty excited that we have had Reghi covering the MAC for so many years. Nights like tonight have to make him want to consider retirement.

Trite and cliche actually work in his industry if paired with self-awareness and humility (See: Verne Lundquist). He seems to lack both. I don't care if you say awkward things. But wink at me as you do it. Judging by his radio show, this man believes he is an opinionmaker.

Michael Rughi.

If I hear "Ohio's Bobcats"one more time I'm going to kill someone. Definitely prefer to listen to Russ but the audio is so bad I couldnt handle it tonight. The stretch audio only feed is a few seconds off from the video only feed so its tough to have both at the same time in separate windows.

A couple decades ago NBC ran an experiment by airing a football game without announcers.  They described each play with graphics, sort of like open captioning.  It might be worthwhile to try feeding the PA announcer's mic on the air sometime instead of having Reghi and Mix doing games on consecutive nights (or at all).  I like to call them the Tedious Twins.  It might only be marginally better on ESPNU Saturday, although their 5th-string b-ball announcers are usually better than their 5th-string football boothers.

ESPN3 broadcasts on side courts for grand slams often have no announcers. It's... interesting.

Reghi is somewhat of an acquired taste. Overall, he is not that bad....sure, maybe a bit much with the adjectives, but at least his call is lively and balanced. Much better than Mix.

Also, I find it odd that Reghi always calls us Ohio (and sometimes, Ohio's Bobcats - which is fine) - whereas as Mix always refers to us as Ohio U or Ohio University. Just somewhat odd that the announcers refer to the same school differently through the same broadcast...

The MLB Extra Innings package online has the option of turning on field mics.

It's sublime. To watch a game on your flatscreen with the crack of the bat, the fans screaming out from the stands and the odd sounds you pick up while sitting in a stadium makes it worth every penny of its $120 bill.

It's not for everyone, but if you're already well-acquainted with the storylines and situations of the game, it's fantastic.

Funny thing is that I think Reggie got called for a foul when I swore he was in the semi-circle before this happened.

I love those broadcasts - you feel more like you are really there. Great for tennis (and maybe because I played competitively all through HS) - maybe not so for basketball.

I imagine that stems from his days as a player at Toledo when we went by the Ohio U moniker.

I watched that game and it was awful.  As bad as many announcers are they are better than nothing.  I'm not a big fan of Reghi but he is an all-star compared to Mix.   I often wonder if Mix and I are watching the same game. It's like he writes a script on what he expects to happen and sticks to it no matter how the game plays out.

How spoiled are we that we complain about a guy that's been doing MAC games every winter for over 20 years.

I wonder if the change in Mike's game calls has changed with age (the way Brennaman has for the Reds) or if it's because he spends hours every day on talk radio. I don't know the timeline, but I know there's been an evolution.

I rolled my eyes during the discussion of the semi-circle rule's implementation. But it's hard not to get an ego when people wave your giant head around in the bleachers.

He never says "Triple Try" any more. That's unfortunate.

I'd like to see Reghi and Rob Cornelius do a game together....that would be fun.

A vocabulary word we discussed in my fifth-grade class yesterday was "corny", meaning something is so not funny that it is funny. A perfect example is how Mix laughs at just about any of Reghi's cliches.

Like when Reghi described one of Ohio's efficient 3-pointer as "he shot that from Nelsonville" and Mix cracks up like it was the most original and funny description he's ever heard. Not sure which is more corny, Reghi's cliche or Mix thinking it is funny.

In all seriousness, Reghi is as good an ambassador for the MAC as there is in the public eye.

Listened to him talk in a Cleveland bar? Many here have. Thats someone who might be considered an on air ambassador. Not my cup of tea off the air......I like my ambaessadors saying the same thing jn both settings.

never argue with idiots, they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Oh, that  was ticking me off so much.  He was making a big deal and his heel wasn't touching at all.   My wife had to remind me that they couldn't hear me cuz I was yelling back.

Rug alert goes off every time I see Reghi.  I remember seeing him holding down his carpet square as he crossed a windswept plaza at Kent State many years ago.
