One hot night in Rochester notwithstanding, the Broncos are terrible on the road.

blah, blah, blah, parity, know-each-other-too-well, it's difficult to dominate in conference.  Hooey.  TIme for us to rip off 8 or 10 in a row.  TIme to show.

It seems to me that we have bad luck against the Broncos.  I almost hate them as much as Miami.  But I have a feeling we will take care of them in the Convo!!!

Ted, you have no TV for this game. The thread on MAC TV games, however, has STO carrying this game. Can you please clarify?

I don't know if they all are, but this game is listed by ESPN as being an ESPN3 game

Steve Hawkins looks like the Little Caesars guy.  I find this amusing.  I find it so amusing that I have posted it for like the past 5 years in a row when we play them.

One could also argue he looks somewhat like Andrew Zimmern (Bizarre foods - Travel Channel) but that's boring.
A weaker case can be made that he looks like a fat Mr. Six (old Six Flags commercial).

I am hopeful that you're opinion on this comes true.  Starts again tomorrow.  Time for Walt, Ivo, and Reggie to continue to assert themselves.

Western is going to try to pound the ball down low against us with Whitfield and Stainbrook. They get to the line a lot so our bigs are probably going to be in foul trouble for much of the game.  The good news is that they aren't very good defensively, they turn the ball over like crazy and they can't shoot from the outside.  If we bring out defensive intensity we should have no problems.

Is Hawkins on the hotseat?

I asked this question back in November (http://bobcatattack.com/messageboard/topic.asp?FromPage=1&ForumPID=1&PID=46749#FirstNew) but McKinney pointed out that Hawkins had just signed a contract. He's under contract through 2016 so there's no way WMU would eat that many years of his contract.

I don't think Hawk has any bulletin board material to use against us for this game, so that always helps.

WMU just had an outstanding recruiting class signed during the early signing period. Quality and quantity. The question is, how many will last 4 years and how many will transfer to play for Ray at U-Detroit?

A win vs. WMU would guarantee the Cats a winning regular season.  When was the last time that happened in January?

I'd like to go at these two early.  Nobody on Miami could gaurd Baltic.  Lets go to him again and get them in foul trouble.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

Maybe our defensive strategy will be to double Whitfield and Stainbrook and hope they don't do a good job passing out of the doubles, and even if they do, hoping that Western will not have a good night from three.  If they are turnover prone, we could get steals out of the big men passing out of double teams.

Just my two cents.  Maybe one cent.

That's the way I would play it as well.  Stainbrook looks slow as hell to me.  Send Ivo baseline and Walter from the elbow.

I thought both Ivo and Reggie did a good job on Saturday of facing up on the wing and getting around slower defenders.  It was nice to see Ivo do that instead of slowly dribbling into the lane and shooting a fade away jumper.

Stainbrook is a little faster than he looks, but yeah, you can get whistles on him.

Check out the Kalamazoo Gazette article on our newslinks.  Very complimentary about the Convo environment and our team.
