For all those disappointed in how we play, I ask you when was the last time we were 18-4? This team may not be pretty, but it plays better D than Bobcats have in years and forces TO's probably in record fashion for this program. So help me out. Was our record this good under TOS, Larry Hunter, Billy Hahn, Danny Nee, Dale Bandy or do we have to go back to Jim Snyder.

1969-70 we started the year 20-4 before losing famously to Notre Dame and Austin Carr.   This is our second best record after 22 games in the history of the program.

And if I recall correctly, those 20 wins included victories over 5 Big 10 teams.

The 1963-64 team finished 21-6 with the 6th loss to Michigan in the Elite 8.  It notched non-conf wins over Wisconsin, St. John's, two over Louisville and Kentucky which if I recall correctly was ranked #4.

It is indisputably darned nice to see this season's Cats at 18-4 with excellent prospects to advance to 19-4 this Saturday.  I guess you could accuse me of remaining healthily skeptical that the Cats can win the MAC East.

It's going to be darn tough because Akron is really putting the pedal to the medal. They only have three road games left.  Luckily one of those is against us.  But we still have trips to Buffalo and Kent State.  But we are only one game out. It's not like Akron is a juggernaut.  They are definitely good but it's not like we were outclassed by them when we played up there.

Winning the regular season would be awesome, don't get me wrong.  But in reality, as long as we can land the #2 seed, can we really complain?

+1

Central scares me on Saturday...you know it's going down to the final minute.

Need DJ to get out of his funk. Does anyone else think he may be playing with a distration or two? Haven't ready anything about it, but we need to see start seeing the freshman year DJ as we head into February.

Agree that I'm a little concerned about DJ right now. Can't figure out what's up with his game right now. Not as concerned about this game.  The only reason I'm not is because this team seems to do enough of the dirty work (defense, rebounding) on a consistent basis that I'm not concerned with this game at home.  Were it in Mt. Pleasant, different story.

And thanks to NashvilleKat for posting this.  I've been thinking it for about 18 hours.

The 69-70 team started with victories over Northwestern (road), Purdue at home (with Rick Mount), Ohio State (with Dave Sorenson and Jim Cleamons - road), and Indiana (road). They then  won three more in a row and were ranked 5th in the country before losing to Texas. They finished the regular season 20-4 and I believe were ranked 16th.

Then that settles it.  This is our worst 18-4 team ever.

My bad...for some dumb reason I thought this game was at Central. I agree..not as concernerned now that it's at the Convo. Mt. Pleasant...completely different story.
