I am thoroughly disgusted with how Groce cannot design a zone offense,  We have the players, but you can't keeping holding the ball and not create ball movement.  We did not apply any pressure on the guards, thus EMU cut the game in half.

Tonight was very poor play by all.  Can't make 3's, can't make free throws, can't make bunnies, what the heck is going on?  Has Groce lost this team and cannot create the desire to play. I am sorry that out performance on the floor for the year 2012 is the lowest in three years!!

I'm not sure we do have the players.

Speed and crisp passes beat a zone all the time.  Neither throwing the ball around the perimeter and jacking up a shot clock beating three pointer, nor isolations by post players work.

Rooting for Akron is like cheering on the Taliban.

Groce said not having Ivo meant they had to change their zone offense on the fly and it took a long time to get adjusted. He said it hurt not having their best high post player.

Agree....a team must move the ball and have good spacing to beat the zone. It seems like our guards set up way past the 3-point line and are content to dribble too much as opposed to swinging the ball around the perimeter. No one on the team can hit a mid-range jumper consistently - although these days, its either a 3 or garbage points down low.

It's too deep in the season for the team to stop jacking up 3's or Cooper to all of a sudden stop throwing up ill-advised shots or Baltic taking 20 dribbles backing someone a few inches taller then him while the opponents' defense sags down....I think the hope for this season is for our defense to get back on it and grind it out.

Let's hope the d gets back on track, or else will be tough making it to Cleveland.

Exactly. Any time I've seen a team beat a zone D, the team not only has good three point shooters but a good high post player. Work to get the ball to your high post around the foul line and you have options. You can kick out to shooters as the D collapses, you have a higher chance of getting the ball to a man with deeper position (Ivo was good at getting the ball to Devaughn for a dunk doing this last year, or you can put the ball on the floor and go score yourself. Ivo's our only guy and he had some effectiveness with this in the BG game, but it seemed like he also got the ball poked away from behind a lot.
