I'm going to throw out a contrarian point of view and say that this game is virtually meaningless. It's certainly not that important anymore. Ohio has absolutely no chance of getting an at-large bid to the big dance so all that matters now are conference games, especially the MAC tournament in a couple of weeks. The only thing I need to see out of this game is that we stay healthy. Other than that, it has no impact on our chances of getting into March Madness in my opinion.

One of their best players, Chris Stephenson, is likely out with a concussion.

@Mark, this matchup was meaningless from the day it was announced. Was never going to help us regardless.

Someone once said "You play to WIN THE GAME... You don't play just to play..."  The game is still important for a number of reasons - keep building momentum from the BG game, get our young guys in the game to build confidence for the stretch run, improve on one of our best overall records in school history, etc.  Also, if we win the conference tournament, this could help us get a slightly higher seed in the NCAAs and a more winnable game.  This should be an exciting matchup - Groce mentioned UNC-A had won 14 in a row before losing the other night and they play an up-tempo pace.

If this game was on the road I'd be very much less enthusiastic about it.  We're at home and we can relax a bit for once. I see this as a chance for a tune-up before making a run.  I'd like to see Goard and Taylor continue to get more PT in this one.  Give DJ and Ivo some much-needed rest.  I know Keely has been frustrated with his play as of late, so I'd like to see him shake off the rust a bit.  Honestly, would you rather be facing a St. Mary's caliber team at this juncture?

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

The only black Ohio gear I have would be what was supposed to be in the mail this week....Are people just wearing random black clothing or does everybody actually own black bobcat attire?

Sibs crowd?  I've never really seen Sibs Weekend move the needle on a crowd at all.  This isn't Dad's Weekend we're talking about, here.

I have a black Ohio golf shirt that's out and ready for this one.  I know I may be unique in this regard, but I absolutely love Bracketbuster Saturday (and Friday).  While I agree we got jobbed by not getting a TV game, I just really enjoy it.  It's a good showcase to prove what kind of talent and basketball is out there at the mid-major level.  I always get to Athens early on this day so I can camp out to watch some of the other games that are televised.  My group is getting into town for the lunch hour so we can enjoy the whole day.  Besides that, I'd like to hope that OUr team wants to thump this NC Asheville team to prove a point.

Have to disagree here.  Over the years, since 1977, I've seen Sibs Weekend make a big difference in attendance.  That has not been the case over the past few years.  I notice that tickets for Sibs are very inexpensive this year.  That may make a difference.

I can imagine, since this is a night game, that this will help attendance from sibs weekend a lot.  If my sib was coming down for the weekend, I would suggest that we go to the Basketball game, and then head uptown around 9:30/10 when the game is over.  I think the timing is perfect.

How old is your sib??

I think it can be an 8K sort of crowd. Keep in mind we may be competing against hockey for attendance. Their conference tournament is this weekend at Bird and I know they have a game Friday night. I don't know the structure of their tournament but there is a possibility that they play a Saturday evening game.

If people want to watch a club sport over a scholarship sport, so be it. Absolutely mind-boggling to me though.

We are all disappointed with this match up as well as it not being on TV.
However we still need to take care of business.
We still need to improve.
DJ played much better yesterday and we can only hope that the improvement continues.
Groce did a good job with the game plan and the boys did a good job of executing.
Let's do it again Saturday

Say what you will, but it's a good program with a good following. There are also a lot of people who are more entertained by hockey than basketball (not Ohio basketball vs. Ohio hockey, but the sports in general). Even though it's a club team, the coaches still recruit.

I'm disappointed that we're not on TV, but besides UNCA not having a strong RPI (like that matters anymore), this is still a tough matchup, and these guys have won a lot of games and were competitive with some elite programs. I don't predict an easy win.

My concern is the effect on next season's RPI.

Fair enough, obviously my comments are based in the more recent past.  Ticket pricing is a major factor -- I know there are plenty of people who ordinarily would've gone to a game who choose not to on sibs weekend because they'd have to buy the ticket, whereas dad tends to pick up the tab when he is in town.

Also, the game will be going up against a Mem Aud concert.

This is the game.  The only one that's important right now.

For you naysayers, what's to be gained by losing this one?

The line to complain about everything--and more--forms over to the left.
