Ohio is at its best when DJ is primarily a penetrator/distributor and a shooter secondarily. And TJ is at his best when he's attacking the rim and not standing around the 3-pt. line.

Ohio is at their best when the shoot well from distance. When we're feeling it from 3 it opens up the paint for Keely and the driving range for our slashers. When we're not shooting well our offense gets really stagnant and we have trouble scoring.

hehate is absolutely right.  groce talks about defense all the time but we are at our best when the "O" is in sync.  the "D" has been pretty consistent all year.  The offense not.  Tonight we were on!

My biggest fear with this team is that we hit an off shooting night either in the MAC or the NCAA tourney and we are dead.  We don't really have the ability to win the low scoring grind out kind of game very often.  We need to keep up our defensive intensity AND at the same time have a stellar offense.

Good point. Hall, Baltic and Smith were 9-10 from the field, most around the rim. Of course, Akron wasn't sitting back in a zone all game, either.

Man, that was fun.  When Kellog and Offut hit shots we are a darn good team.

So many positives to talk about.  Keely was a monster.  Baltic nailing those three long jumpers.  TJ Hall stepping up.  The rebounding.  10 Assists for Cooper.

I think my favorite play of the year is Offut taking right to Marshall and finishing with the left hand.  That was the real deal.

Nice night....  Nice night....

I have to disagree on this.  I actually believe that it is our penetration and ability to get into the lane that determines how well we shoot the three.  We are back to doing what we did in the early season.  We are attacking the paint and as a result getting better looks from three.  This forces the defense to collapse on our bigs and guards and gives our shooters a full second to look at the basket when the ball is kicked out as opposed to a half second when we are just swinging it.

I am on board with this, particularly TJ.  I will admit I called for less minutes for TJ at one point, but his last 2 games have me calling for additional minutes.  Seems tougher and more confident, particularly in the paint.

But as far as last night, EVERYONE played good.  No big played more than 24 minutes and they all did well.  Baltic/Smith/Goard were combined 9 for 9!  Nick was moving around more and that helped create some greatlooks that he drains more often than not.

They were 23 for 26 from the line...Imagine how ugly it would've been if they wern't given as many trips to the line and/or shot them as well as they did.

Dare I say...the offense is clicking.

We were pretty darn good at Northern Iowa as well.  Wright State wasn't bad either.

They brought it in the paint. Baltic was making pull ups. Keely was hitting his FTs. Incredible game to watch. If this is the game Keely/Baltic/Smith/Goard bring, well, Im excited...

This game reminded me of the Northern Iowa game.  We played really well that night, too, with the same level of intensity both offensively and defensively.

Well.....  What came first, attacking the rim or Kellog and Offut finding their stroke?  Maybe its a tie.

As someone said on either this or another thread - Penetration creates the extra even if split second to let them get better set and a D hand farther from their face on the shot

IMO, we need production from him more than any other player. When him, and Ivo can produce, it allows the guards to pick the open spots on the floor and wait for that feed.

And yes, the handle change was inspired entirely from that picture. Original? Nope. Do I care? Not in the slightest.
