Is it safe to assume only the top 4 seeds will get a postseason invite (barring a run to the championship by another team)?  Would BG have a shot at sneaking into a tourney if they win 1-2 more?  Is there a chance Kent or Buffalo gets left out?

My prediction would be we have precisely 1 team in each tournament.  I hope/think it will look like this:

NCAA - Ohio
NIT - Akron
CBI - Buffalo
CIT - Kent

I like the top line the best. Hard to see Kent getting left out of a tournament. They won 20 games and are still the MAC's most recognizable program nationally, even though it might be time to pass that on

BG has an RPI of 140 and if they can beat Buffalo and make it to the quarterfinals that would give the Falcons 19 wins on the season. With 140 post season slots available BG has a good shot if they an make a little run for themselves in the MAC tourney.

Ohio's chances are helped out greatly by avoiding Kent or Akron until the finals. My biggest question is if we do make the NCAA's sitting at 26 or 27 wins will the committee give us a higher seed with Groce and 3 of his starters having played in the tourney 2 years ago. I know our RPI isn't very high right now but with a couple more wins it should be plus 60 and we will have a victory over at least one tourney team in UNC-Ashville

Especially since several teams will probably turn down invites to the CIT and/or the CBI.

Illinois State pulls of a huge upset with a win over Wichita State in the semis.  They can steal a bid with a win over Creighton (assuming Creighton beats Evansville) in the MVC finals tomorrow.  That would in all likelihood give the Valley three bids.

Akron will be no worse than NIT if they lose in Cleveland. Ohio if they can atleast reach the MAC final they would have an excellent shot at NIT and same with Buffalo.  Best outcome would have Ohio win the quarterfinal and Akron reach the final but lose to Ohio/UB.  Akron gets NIT auto, 1 NCAA automatic and perhaps an at-large NIT selection. That would be a solid year for the MAC getting three teams into the top 2 tournaments and perhaps a 4 team in Kent State into the CIT or CBI.

Isn't this about what the MAC does on a typical year? I was looking back on the records and since 2005 both Ohio, Akron and Kent State have made the NCAA tournament twice a piece with Miami taking it in one year (2007). If Ohio can win the MAC tourney that will give the Cats 3 trips to the dance since 2005 which will be most in the conference since that time period. This could be the postseason where Ohio moves itself firmly into the upper echelon of MAC basketball programs up there with Kent and Akron instead of more on the middle tier as the program was from 1996-2004.

The people are leaving today for a short vacation in Las Vegas.  What do you all think about putting down a wager in the requisite amount for the 'Cats to win the tourney?
