I love it. It puts more emphasis on the 16-game regular season, which is how it should be. Plus I'm all in favor of seeding teams regardless of division. Could you imagine EMU being the #2 this year?

I like it, If we are to become dominant in the MAC it will be to our advantage. One of the good things Geno and Dambrot ever whined about. Its not fair for a double digit seed to go to the dance.....wah wah wah.

dunno....ask Geno and Dambrot. They are the ones who were crying. I think the regular season champs should go and the tourney champs should go in the mid major conferences......but that would take up back to the 128 game tourney that still has a lesser % of teams in than make bowl appearances.... and still only takes one more day.

Because the tournament is a great event. If you want to kill attendance league-wide eliminate the tournament. At the beginning of February all but two or three teams would be eliminated. Just because that's the way they did it when you were a kid doesn't make it better. The way the tournament is aligned this year not only retains the excitement of the tournament but it rewards teams for the regular season. I have to admit I love the four games in one day event but I'd rather have this.

When you consider that your conference tournament semifinals conceivably could involve matches between teams playing their fourth game in five days vs. teams that have had nearly a week of rest, I think it puts this idea into perspective.

Other than the fact that it would put OUr guys on the outside, I'd be curious to see how a team playing its fourth game in five days does against a well-rested team.

Personally, I think it is a concept so weighted that it's absurd to involve all the teams -- unless the schedule is adjusted to start the tournament sooner, spreading the games over a longer period.

The 1 and 2 seeds rarely stumble before the Semis (especially now that there is no automatic #2 to the West)...So if it is more than likely, why make them pound some insuperior team the night before and tire them out with 3 games in 3 days heading into the Big Dance? It is definitely the best formula for getting the best representation into the tourney.

And yes, I realize that we were a 9 seed when we won and then beat Georgetown and that completely disputes all of the above.

Agree entirely. It's time to expand the NCAA tourney. I don't understand why some think it'll somehow dilute the product. In my mind it would only make it better -- and more exciting.

That was the rare occasion where a 9 seed was actually the best team in the conference at the end of the year. It can be done but it's awful tough and it should be.

Only if you go to a 22-game regular season. The Ivy has 10 teams, so everybody plays everybody else twice and everything is even. If you have less than a 22-game MAC schedule with no tourney, somebody gets screwed.

I actually like the Cats being the 3 seed. Our first game is against a team that'll be playing its third game in four nights, including last night's game that went down to the wire. Toledo will have had no chance to rest anybody and may be short on stamina tonight. On the other hand, the 1 and 2 seeds likely will play the 3 and 4 seeds, who will have played only one game this week (albeit the night before) and may have been able to pull their starters during the second half of the quarterfinal game.

I like the idea of increasing the odds that the most consistent MAC team makes the NCAA tournament instead of the hotest team for the week of the tournament. Increasing the odds of the #1-4 team making the NCAA tournament should increase the odds of a MAC team advancing in the NCAA tourney.

But then, I would have to ignore the Georgetown victory from two years ago.

If they really want to go all out and give the #1 seed the best shot they should make Kent-WMU play the late game tonight.
