I am not sure we could have recovered against Buffalo had we come out like that in the semifinal as the #2 seed. The shots were just way off for the better part of the 1st half and the offense just could not find a rhythm. Now Buffalo could experience the same thing against us while we have hit our stride. I'm calling for us to jump out to an early lead tonight. It could hurt us come Saturday night if we face a better rested Akron team. But I think that factor is minimal.

I love our defense...I think it could be VERY disruptive to a 3ish seed in the tourney and cause a lot of frustration. I think for that reason (among others) we are dangerous, so I really hope we get the chance.

I was concerned about Nick's shot last night...WOW was it off, which is troubling to see from your best outside shooter. But I loved his play around the paint. He doesn't give himself enough credit in terms of ball handling and driving the lane. I'd like to see him move more overall, including with the ball. He could take some pointers from Walt and take the dribble drive when it is there.

I think Reggie is about to go on a tear (hopefully like Devo in 2010). He can't avoid the butterfingers at times, but he is playing big, strong and determined in the paint.

Good point about Reg... he fumbled a few easy ones last night and Reghi and Mix pointed it out, but after that he was very solid the rest of the game. Turned out to have a very nice game. I was surprised we looked that rusty early. Saturday to Thursday is only one more day than normal - it's not like we had two weeks off.

Like others, I hope Nick starts hitting his shot tonight, but like seeing the other elements of his game.

I agree about Reggie. It's almost like he was hypnotized at halftime to believe he was Sidney Wicks.

I think the poor play in the first 10 minutes was a combination of rust and jitters. Props to JG for getting them to blast out of the second half.

Now that Ohio won, I'm glad the Bobcats got the third seed.

If we were sitting here in disbelief, having watched Ohio lose to Toledo twice in the same season however...

Seemed to me Nick's 3-pt. attempts were all short. Easily corrected, I would hope.

I hope so too, but I'm a little concerned. That's the kind of thing you would expect after the third of three straight games due to dead legs, not in the first game after a 5 day break.

We had a thread about how the big players struggled in the Convo (you might have been the author) that was very telling. I just looked up how our defense handled other MAC PGs throughout the season and we were tremendous in creating problems for them. Collectively in our 17 league games so far opposing starting PGs have shot 38% and averaged 8.7 ppg. The most telling number is the A/TO Ratio. We only surrended 60 assists, or 3.5 per game, while causing PGs to turn it over 68 times, or 4 times a game. In only three games did opposing PGs have an A/TO ratio better than 1.0 and two of those were just over. (Porrini 5 a, 4 to and Oldham (4 and 3). The other one was a doozy though. EMU's Darrell Lampley dished out 9 assists to go with 5 assists. Needless to say that wasn't our finest effort. Still, a very good sign that our defense has been effective.

He was shooting like 80% from deep in warmups last night. I think it was just one of those nights.
