Why does Kellogg take the inbounds pass and immediately throw it to TJ?  Very unusual for a top free throw shooter to give it up when under no defensive pressure and you are the best at the line.

Ohio shot better from the field and on 3s than they did from the line.

I was screaming at the TV when this happened.  Not my finest moment.

Speaking of calling fouls, UBFan.com is melting down over how they were screwed by the refs.

If Keely had made those flagrant 1 foul shots, I'd actually agree with UB fans about being screwed. But he didn't. And there's no telling if Keely makes those free throws if it wasn't a flagrant. Not having guys on the standing on the blocks really changes the whole situation.

The only other call Beefalo had a beef with was the travel call. Other than that, they got some calls inside for their big guys the entire game.

Especially from such a student-of-the-game type of player.

Agree about Nick -- I know we were trying to throw the rock around to eat some clock, but when Nick has the ball in that situation, turtle up and take the contact.  It's a pure numbers play -- I'd rather have Nick at the line than anybody else on the team.

You can see that several of our guys don't have a consistent foul line routine. That's why they miss. I could go to the line right now and make 7 of 10 in my pajamas.

Keely's hook across the middle looked good to me, but they called him for traveling. The flagrant foul was questionable, but we were granted access to the referees, who Don Corlione has in his pocket like so many nickels and dimes.

Bingo!  Not only is there a lack of a consistent routine but too many players have there feet/base too close together.  I'll match your 7 of 10 giacomo.

I'll better that 70% . . . but not in my pajamas.

Making 7 of 10 in your pajamas in your backyard is a little easier than making 7 of 10 on an empty lane in the final minute of a conference semi final in an NBA arena.

Circumstances are a little different.

I agree that it is. To prove my point, every now and again I shoot 10 foul shots. I haven't played or shot a basketball for over 10 years. But I do have foul shot routine that works and I can routinely make 7 of 10. If I shoot another 10, I usually improve.

Having a routine helps especially in those situations where the shots are important. You go to your routine, which keeps you in rhythm, and helps keep you focused. If you miss the first shot, you mentally know what you didn't do and you go back and drain the second one.

I am (was) horrible, horrible at the freebies.

But the thought that you go to your routine, that you put yourself in your comfort zone and all else melts away is correct.  Not saying it's easy to do.  But winners do it.
