I know they aren't even being mentioned but it must sting to see Miss St and Marshall both being mentioned when they beat them both - Akron is probably two bad losses away from seriously being considered...

I don't see any losses to bad teams on Akron's schedule. They've all come against programs who have been decent this year. Dropping the bracketbuster vs. Oral Roberts killed their at-large chances for good.

I wouldn't completely count them out.  There have been more surprising selections in the past.  But if they did get it, get ready for them being targetted as the one team that was not deserving by all the media/fans nationally.

And get ready for them to be playing in Dayton on Tuesday.

I hope they get an at-large.  That would be great for the conference.

Just dreaming but I would love to see them get in (ok, that much is true, I do want to see them in), and then advance all the way with a meeting between us in either the elite 8 or final 4 or dare I say it......the championship?  Imagine our rivalry then.

The opposing team sucks!

Current RPI is 55. Ahead of “bubble” teams like Drexel (66), Miami (62), Northwestern (63), Mississippi St. (74), Seton Hall (68) etc.

Still, IMO they don’t have a snowball’s chance. Wish they did. RPI seems like a tool used to justify decisions when they favor the big boys and a tool ignored when the numbers further the cause of the little guys.

Losing three of their last five and four of their last six pretty much kills any chance they had.   Reminds me of Miami's finish in 2005.

Yes, and JSF will jump all over me for this, it all depends on the politics.  If Akron has some friends on the committee they get in, if not they don't.  I remember several times in past years when the MAC had a much better argument than Akron has this year for a second team and being royally screwed over in the selection.

ZipsNation is hilarious right now.  They have quite the contingent that seems to think they're too good for the NIT.
