I've told this to people sitting near me last night, mcbin and ziegler today, and a few Buffalo fans as I was checking out of my hotel. If I can recognize a referee's name, that's bad (Jerry Sauder, Terry Wymer, Ted Valentine). If I can recognize a referee's name and appearance, that's out of this galaxy horrible. And the only one who fits that category for me is Bo Boroski. The man calls more technical fouls than any other referee. He called the tech on Watt's alley-oop for hanging on the rim. I don't care that it went our way, it could have been the weakest call I've ever seen. Here's video, skip to 1:15.

Here's hoping he stays far away from Cleveland tonight. Far, far away.

Absolutely the worst set we could have drawn. Scirotto is a dick who has hosed us at X, in the Convo and far and wide. Mayborg may be the best of three with us and Bo ......depends on how he sees the game ......cause he IS gonna keep control.

I diasagree with the call on the Tech. With all the back boards breaking and guys showing out it has become a point of emphasis. There was not a reason inthe world for Watt to pull himself up and the rule is there for a reason. Safety. The day s of Greg Oden hanging on the rim every dunk have resulted in a new focus and every player has the knowledge. My guess is  there was a conversation earlier in the game and he was warned which resulted in a T later. Bo really hates when he gives you a tidbit and then you go ahead and disrespect him.

That said that is a horrible slate for us.

Watt hung on the rim and swung like Mary Lou Retton. That was a legitimate T. If you don't like the rule, fine, but according to the rule, that's an easy call.

The problem is that you see that and worse every single game without it being called.  As Dragon said in another thread it is technically a correct call but they almost never make it.  I thought for sure that Watt had taunted or something when I saw it live but the replay showed he didn't say a word and didn't look at any Bobcats.  If that had been called on us this board would have been livid.

The only college ref I ever knew on sight was Eric Harmon (former -- or still(?) -- MAC head of officiating).  But that's only because I knew him back in the day when I was in radio and he was a client (he has an insurance agency).  He was also the one who got in Nick Nolte's face in "Blue Chips".

Early in the second half, Watt was about to inbound the ball after a timeout. I overheard him talking to the ref about the tech call and that is exactly what the ref told him. It wasn't hanging on the rim that got him the tech, it was him swinging and lifting up his feet. Watt didn't really have anything to say after that.

Harmon is somewhat a bad word here in IN> He runs all the officiating clinics around here and does all the assigning for Our North Central COnference teams. Not very accepting of any criticism no matter how nicely you put it. It is funny when the word "harmon" is uttered to see everyone's eyes roll, evenmoreso than "sauder"
