Would like to see Akron win this game for conference pride reasons.  Although many on Zipsnation are rooting for an Ohio loss to Michigan.

Marshall has been exposed as soft underneath.  Did anyone else love the 110's tall and worthless chant at Zeke Marshall?  Priceless!

Akron's getting used.

Looks like they've run into a buzzsaw tonight. Northwestern is not missing. Reminds me of when we played Akron in the Convo this year. Hope they can come back, but it's not looking good.

made a nice little run at the end.  I am also watching Marshall and MTSU on ESPN 3.  So far MTSU is in control.  With the news this week that a few Sun Belt schools are trying to get into the new Alliance between MWC and CUSA, I would love to see the conference pursue WKU and MTSU for all sports.   No more football only.  WKU and MTSU were not among those seeking admission in alliance.

It's amazing that Northwestern has been so bad in basketball.  I always felt like they could be the Duke of the Big Ten especially being in a high school basketball hot bed.

Zippy up by 2.

I have mentioned that I CAN'T WAIT TILL FRIDAY?

Northwestern is just a weird place. It's unlike every other big ten school. Easily the smallest and really is more like U of Chicago than the big ten.

I used to have season tix for football and basketball and consider them somewhat a favorite team, but the place just isnt a jock school. Duke made a choice awhile ago and they've been successful., but I always get the impression that Northwestern just doesn't care enough and will only go part of the way to be successful. Their football/basketball conference games are filled by at least a third of fans from the other school and when MSU shows up for bball and OSU shows up
for football? Half...if not 2/3 of the place are non NU fans.

They do recruit Chicago well, but the Chicago bball hot bed is a nice line, but no team from Illinois is in the NCAAs. Therefore, there's a flaw in that logic...although Chicago bball is VERY good.

FWIW...NU has good women's sports. Tennis and Lacrosse are very good at NU.

Let's GO HAWKS!

I would agree with the not caring statement.  You know they have tremendous resources available if they would just commit.  Kind of a waste for the big ten.

Here is a little trivia for you.  One of the reasons the Convocation Center was built was because President Alden as well as some others thought Northwestern was going to do what U of Chicago did and leave the Big Ten.  Michigan State had replaced Chicago and Dr. Alden wanted Ohio University to replace Northwestern.  If you go to the library or university planners office (cant remember which) you can find the blue prints for expanding Peden Stadium to 70,000 seats. I saw them myself while in then AD's, Tom Boeh's office.  Once the Big Ten dream fell through, Dr. Alden was on the verge of moving Ohio to a new conference with Penn State, WVU, Pitt, Virginia and William & Mary.  The reason it didn't materialize was Penn State's new football coach wanted to stay independent.  Thank you Joe Paterno. (not)  Vernon Alden left Ohio University too soon.  He was a visionary.

We'll see if Diggs is better at missing than Abreu.

That stinks.  I was rooting for Akron.  Marshall is getting destroyed by Middle Tenn.

Akron is getting good at losing tournament games by not converting a missed free throw. doubly painful when it happens against a directional school.

In classic Akron fashion, Abreu stormed off the floor and refused to shake any Northwestern players' hands.
